we got our 1st council house and the previous tenant had painstakingly painted all the bathroom black with glitter on top, and then done the ceiling in a peach colour????

Me and the kids then exchanged and the next bathroom has denim effect walls and floor. Was very bizarre, had to scrape what could only be described as latex and grit off the walls, took days and smelt awefull. Its now plain white tiles!!!!!!

My OH's been in the trade since the 70s and in that time the 70s and 80s offered you any colour you wanted realy, and they all came with wonderful names. You just had to have a bathroom in an exotic colour that had an equally exotic name if you wanted to be in fashion back then.Sad but true.

I quite like the blue one for a bit of unusual retro!

Dh's grandparents had a bathroom each, one was blue one was pink. I'v always found that hilariously sweet.

The bathroom suite (i.e. bath, sink and toilet) in my parents house which they sold two years ago (with it still there) was officially described as "butterscotch" in colour. Unkindly it was better described as diarrhea colour!

What's worse is that they chose it - I can remember it being installed - although given the state of finances as I was growing up and the state of the house when we moved in (think moneypit! - when we moved in we had only one working socket and had to unplug the fridge to cook!) it may well have simply been what was available cheap at the time.

I have replaced a blue suite in here when we moved in , the house was built in the early 70's my last house had a sea green suite and i have come across many avocado, maroon and chocolate brown suites when house hunting. We also had some friends who installed a burgundy suite in the early 80's, they have since moved so not sure if it's still in situ. We went for ivory/champagne suites in our bathrooms but I have only seen white recently.

:o I used to have the identical fetching plastic unit over my sink too...only it was burgundy. I also had the matching bath bars. It was over 20 years ago though. :rotfl:
