Sports Insurance Disussion

One of those situations where a broker is a good idea, although I wouldn't argue with any of matty's suggestions either. Also if your club is a member of a larger body, can they advise?
Bottom line is that insurance is going up and up these days. But another thought is to check your current cover carefully. We took over ownership of our work building (had been renting it) last year, and for some reason asked for half a million cover for rebuilding! When the renewal came through for the whole year, it was vastly increased. I double checked everything, including estimated rebuilding costs, and managed to get the premium down by several hundred. So check your cover is enough, but not too much IYSWIM.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I did a bit of googling for you stevene1;

When renewing our insurance for the rowing club, we rang around other rowing clubs for price guides and recomendations, have you thought of doing that with other clubs in your leagues?Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Hi there
My partner has been asked to do some football coaching by lots of parents in the school holidays (children aged 5-7). Having come round to the idea he's asked our local school if we can use their pitch and they have agreed providing he has some sort of public liability insurance or the like. At this stage he's not actually setting up a club, merely coaching on an ad-hoc basis. Has anyone any advice as to who can provide this cover and a rough guess as to what it will cost. The parents have already said they'd cover his expenses but we want to ensure that we try to keep this as low as possible.
Any advice would be appreciated.Being powerful is being like a lady.....if you have to say it you ain't!0 -
Try the Amateur Sports Association (01424 215999) or Mann Broadbent Insurance Brokers https://www.mannbroadbent.co.uk . It may also be appropriate for your partner to get CRB checked if he hasn't done so already.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

Agree with Mark about the CRB check ... also First Aid qualification! Will he always have at least one other adult in attendance as well?
Does the Football Association have any schemes?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks guys
Am looking into if he needs to be CRB checked and he does have a first aid qualification. Have called our local FA and their schemes to be tailored for when you start up or are running a team, and are naturally more expensive.
Will give the people that Mark7799 suggested a call. I didn't think it would be this difficult to do a few little training sessions!Being powerful is being like a lady.....if you have to say it you ain't!0 -

how comprehensive are the annual policies including winter sport for coverage compared to specialist ski insurance?
I have been previously been buying insureandgo annual policies and have been presuming it will give me good cover when i go skiing. is this ok?
thanks0 -
Looking for a comprehensive golf insurance to cover clubs and equipment and personal/public liability for any wayward shots !
Found http://www.thegolfersclub.co.uk/inscover.htm which when you subscribe get free comprehensive insurance plus other benefits and it isn't too much dearer than the quotes from insurance broker sites.
Has anyone subscribed and had to use the insurance? Was the process ok-recommend? Or can anyone recommend a decent insurance policy to cover?
Home insurance covers clubs out of home but not personal damage harm liability
Thanks0 -
Hi - before you pay around £50 out for this golf insurance package ask your house contents insurers whether they already cover "personal liability" as this is a normal part of contents insurance covering sporting liability or dog liability or cycling liability etc.
You may well already have the cover you need without paying out extra.

As if you have personal possessions cover on your home insurance it will also cover your golf clubs where ever they are.
Generally speaking things like golf insurance/ laptop insurance etc are often already covered by home insurance but people tend to buy it as the specialist policies often have lower excesses than your home insurance and if you were to make a claim then the increase in premium is going to be less than if it were a claim against your home insurance - the downside is that you have to pay an annual premium for which you may never need to claim. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
