PPI Reclaiming discussion Part III

Sorry if this is not the right place - I do get very lost in the site forums, and couldn't find a link to ask a new question. Also, sorry if this is already been asked & replied - I did search ccj on ppi on forum but nothing popped up.
Briefly, the scenario: I have a loan with Halifax taken out in Dec 1993 and subject to a ccj in May 1995 since when I have paid £20 a month & continue to do so until mid-2010.
PPI was added to the loan as a single sum (I have all the paperwork) & interest on it added to the loan. I feel sure that I was not offered the loan without PPI - I was young (22), not very wise, only been in my then job for about 3 months.
My question: can I still try to reclaim PPI? Or does the ccj negate any rights I may have had? Is it worth sending the letters anyway?
Look forward to hearing from you expert people! Many thanks.

You can reclaim, a ccj makes no difference. I would also look at your policy to see if you were covered having only been employed 3 months.
But the fact you were not given a choice is reason enough.DS1 12/10/04

Good luck Showergirl, we have everything crossed for you.;) :A xxThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, I had a number of loans with HSBC who made the PPI a condition of the loan. They may have been taken out more than 6 years ago should I still try and get my money back or is 6 years the limit. I have called them and they have logged my enquiry and will get back to me in 5 days.
Hi hun
I think you can still try to reclaim if you feel you were mis sold, I am going for 2001 with one of mine, do you require the reclaim template letter for this hun?
Do you still have the paperwork, the agreement then ?

There is some useful information about PPI mis selling and a letter template, but add your own reasons and as much info as possible, to back you case, they have 8 full weeks to respond.
Let us know how you get on so we can help move on to the next step if required, or you can wait to see what others think here first before you move on, just in case it will be a waste of time, because I do not want you to take my word for it on old loans.
Good luck though and if you decide to continue with this, please let us know the outcome of this, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I sent the 1st letter on the 10/11/08 they then replied on the 24/11/08
I sent the 2nd (pre existing illness) and drs letter on the 27th November.
I called them todayand was passed from dept to dept and on hold for just under an hour!
On each occassion the couldnt find the account number.
I am concerned that they cannot find the information.
The chap also said they are not required to reply until 16/01/09.
Surely they cannot reply if they are unable to find the account.
Should I contact the Information officer or FO or wait longer.
Hi there.;)
They are entitled to a full 8 weeks to respond and if they do not, you can move forward to the financial ombudsman service.
They should still have your information on data/microfiche where the account details should be amongst them, if they do not supply these hun let us know so we can help you to move on with this complaint.;)
Good luck

Hi Tracey and your in the right place.;)
CCJ's should not make any difference, if you feel you were mis sold the PPI then you can try to reclaim and complain to Halifax about this, good you still have the paperwork.;)
Check this link out here
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
This link has useful PPI info about mis selling and if any of them occur to you then add this to the letter.
There is also a reclaim template letter on the above added link, add as much as you can to help support your complaint.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, if you let us know how you get on we can help you to the next step if required.
Post by recorded delivery and good luck.;)

Hi all
My hubby wrote to both Goldfish and Smile virtually 8 weeks ago and has heard nothing from them even acknowledgement of our letter. Anyone else had any luck with them at all?
Also we have had a response from MBNA saying its taking them longer to investigate and will come back to us by end of this month. Do you think this is a good sign?
Thanks0
