Hi, I was wondering if someone could make things a bit more clear for me??!! We bought a sofa suite from DFS about 4 yrs ago on 0% credit, and we took out the insurance because at that time we were pretty clueless about these things. The loan was over 2 1/2yrs so we have long finished but we did not claim on the insurance, can I attempt to claim this back or does it have to be missold?? Sorry for being so clueless and thanks in advance ofr any help.0

Also when was this actually applied to your card in the first instance?
My OH did not know he had it until he asked for his statements to claim back the charges and also he has an on going illness that he would not have been covered for. Would that be grounds for reclaiming?0 -
hi
i could really do with help and advice as i am not good with letters or legal things, when i write emails to companies complaining or letters i get carried away and tend to get confused and angry. any help with reclaiming ppi insurance from first plus would be gratefully appreciated.
the details are
we took out a secured loan with first plus 30/08/06 and the payment protection was £18367.50 my dh was the person who arranged it, he was told that he would be more succesful if he took the insurance and that in five years time if the above was not used then we would get £15000 back, well we only had the loan for 12 months roughly and decided to get rid of it not knowing that we would have to pay the total amount back. obviously this was a big shock for us and could really do with getting some of it back.
hope the above makes sense and does anyone think we will have a good chance of reclaiming some of it back?
any advice or help is very much appreciated.
thanks

Just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the letter that you send. There is also a template letter on there too but sometimes it can be better to make your own up from this.
You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.
After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.

Was it firstpplus that actually sold you the insurance or did you go through a broker? If you went through a broker then its the broker you need to make the claim against as they sold you the insurance.

hi
many thanks for your advice the more people tell me i have a chance of getting something back the more confident i feel, i have just joined another forum on another site which is about reclaiming for ppi, cards etc and there is someone over there who is in the exact same position as ourselves, i have started drafting a letter, but looking through the firstplus letter is says "payment protection has been forwarded direct to the insurers" although dh though this would be monthly payments and not a huge lump sum.
so i have the feeling they will pass this onto whoever our insurance was taken out with. not sure if this will make it more difficult or easier?
anyway many thanks.
