  • The letter from FOS states that "the offer by the bank is subject to you agreeing to the cancellation of the payment protection policy - if still in force."

The loan was repaid a while ago so there's no ppi in force and nothing is owed to Tesco. Also the FOS letter refers to Tesco Personal Finance throughout - no mention of RBS so am hoping it will be ok!

    Hi Yummy-mummy (cool name) lol :D;) .

Looking good then in a way.
Did they not give you a choice then?
So what they are saying is that they will reduce what you owe?

I may be wrong unless Marshallka could confirm this but if this was mis sold to you, and they have agreed, you should really have the choice of having this repaid in the way you want it paid, again though I am not certain here and I didn't think that being on DMP made any difference.

Hope this resolves, Marshallka unless you already beat me to it by now in posting lol what do you think hun? Cheers.

    Good luck yummy-mummy.;)

So they are not actually admitting liability of mis selling then ?
    But a good will gesture.
I missed that part of your first post - sorry hun...:o

I assume the FOS are also giving you the opportunity if you are not happy to go further with this with them?

Do you know the difference in the amounts at all, from the goodwill gesture amount and the actual amount if they admitted to mis selling where they would have to put you back in the position as if you did not have the PPI from the start of the loan?

lol I know I missed that bit at first......:o , it came to the stage that I wouldn't have minded a goodwill gesture with the lloyds one but they are adamant about this one do you think on my case ?

Bet it will be weeks before this gets moved on to the actual ombudsman, and that is with fast tracking I hope......

The letter doesn't give any figures but does state that in order to settle Tesco will (a) calculate what was paid in total, (b) calculate what would have been paid without the ppi and pay the difference between (a) & (b) + interest at 8% per annum. Have to say its all very confusing!

Arh I see, and your right they don't always give the figures, although it would be of some help if they did.

I am hopeless with maths, our Marshallka is the clever one though for that.:T , thank goodness we have her, she is a star.:A x

Well hun, if your happy with this then its up to you.;)

How long have you been waiting for this one to get sorted within the FOS?
If you don't mind me asking that is lol :D

I sent my first template letter to Tesco in March 2008 and they came back with their decision in July. I then forwarded the complaint to the FOS in July and received notification of the settlement at the beginning of December. To be honest, I'm pleased to be getting anything - my main concern is that it will come to me and not go to the RBS!

Right then okay, in this case contact the number and/or email the person dealing with your complaint which should be on your letter they sent you.
They should be able to confirm this to you.
I take it - it would come back to you hun.;)
