Damn, just a thought was going to suggest you request for a SAR, which is known as a subject access request, they have to provide every information they have on you, but unfortunately they only generally go back as far as 6 years in supplying the info, mind you if you cancelled within the last 6 yrs then the info should be amongst the paperwork they must supply you with.
This way at least it will prove you did have PPI.
Now hun can your remember what year you cancelled the PPI?, if its 2002 and after it should be okay then where the PPI info will and should be amongst the request.;)
2007 or 2008 I cancelled my ppicross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot
Refunded bank overdraft charges £915 :jSPC 2007-2008 #078 aim £500-£341.67
SPC 2011-2012 #078 aim £500-£426.42
SPC 2012-2013 #078aim £500 - TBC

Brilliant, okay hun this may well be worth paying a tenner for then, you £10 by cheque or postal order payment, as Max says they have 40 days to comply to this request, here is the SAR here: Post by recorded delivery for your proof.
This should also come back with PPI details on then about cancellation - great......:T, this will prove this was sold to you. Hope this help hun.

It is the company who sold you the insurance that are liable. Quite often these companies are also getting commission from the companies that sell the PPI so get huge commission . Hmmmmm wonder why they sell the insurance. They are at fault challenge the PPI claim it back.:D
OK, so I need to claim from the company that sold the loan to me even though the loan was with GE Money and the repayments went directly to them?0 -

You have a classic case. Claim it back. They should explain the insurance to you and inform you that you have alternatives. eg look for others to sell this PPI which is cheaper if you go for stand alone Policies. The policy you had were probably front loaded which is not PC nowadays.. Look at the letter above or on the page before Di posted one I posted another and make it relevant for you. Send it registered and let usknow how you get on. They have 40 days to respond to the SAR . Send by registered post so you know when it has been received. Let us know what they say and we can then guide you further.:D
Hi, Thanks for your reply. When you say front loaded what do you mean? I still have the loan agreement! Basically there is a separate box for credit protection insurance with my name in it and the box ticked. None of this was written by me. All i did is sign.0 -
Steve, have you the address details for the company who sold you the car hun?
I was wondering - they will have a finance department, where they arrange the finance for you.
If you let us know the name maybe one of us can track down the finance head office of that car firm.;)
Need to pop off for a short while but will be back okay hun.:D
We will get this sorted out.;)
Hi, Thanks for helping. Well on my agreement the supplier name is 1st Auto Direct Ltd somewhere in boston!0 -

Hi Neptune
Basically these finance companies tend to add the PPI all in with the finance, so its an all in one loan sort of thing, its so wrong, where there is interested added too, it works out so extortionate, have you read on the "Reclaim £1,000's"? in the red box on top of the page, there is PPI info on there, this may explain the product a little more.;)
I feel if this went to the Financial Ombudsman this will go in your favour anyway.
The main of reclaimers here have had this problem where this has been ticked for them and they have still been successful.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
