PPI Reclaiming discussion Part III

Hello and welcome.;)
May I ask who these loans were taken out with? thanks.
We shall have to check to see if they were members of GISC prior to Jan 2005 when the FSA taken over, because if you were unsuccessful in reclaiming on these, the Financial Ombudsman can only investigate complaints if these firms were covered.
However if its a high street bank I think it should be okay.
I assume you still have all the paperwork for these then?
If not it maybe worth your while requesting this, ring first to ask if any charges for requesting copies of agreements, they may charge a £1 for these and must supply within I think 12 days of requesting, but request in writing as soon as you know if there is a charge or not.
Other than that, check this out here:

This is very useful and will give you some ideas, also a template you can use but use your own reaons and add as much info as you can.;)
They have 8 weeks to respond, post by recorded delivery and please let us know when you hear in case you require further help here, good luck.;)

its with barclays. i have been looking through my paper work and i have found the first two but no luck with the most recent yet. the money they gave me back is that from the insurance or the bank
Hi
If you had PPI and re financed several times the money paid back in your bank account was probably PPI. Can you go back over your bank accounts. Six years if you have Internet banking and check dates etc.
You need to make sure you reclaim all these together as if they were re financed that would make a difference to your claim.:mad:0 -
Blimey, well I have never heard of that and I was never charged for using their services, maybe its a business charge if you know what I mean, in other words they charge the business but not the consumer.;)
Exactly how it works - you make a complaint against a bank and the FOS charges that bank their admin costs of £450 of considering a complaint. Which is why I don't understand daft banks who say, "Go to the FOS then" over small credit card reclaims and the like that are well below the FOS costs they would incur! Plonkers!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
I've been reading some of these posts as i'm looking for some assistance but can't find anyone with the same problem as me. I got some double glazing installed by Anglian windows. there was an agreement and i recently noticed that PPI had been added. i was not aware that it had been added as i was not asked any questions about my financial position or emplyment other than was i working and what did i earn. The policy covers me for 5 years but the loan is for 10!!
The PPI is provided by GE money lending and i've written to them asking for a refund due to mis-selling. They claim it's not there problem as they did not sell me the policy, they say i should write to Anglian. Should i now wriote to Anglian Windows, even though i pay the loan to GE money??0 -
Hi there hayjamdan
Write to them and request for written calculations, this way you may know what is what and who paid out.;)
Yes its a lot of money and you may have a case here.
I was also thinking you could request a SAR which is known as a Subject Access Request, where they must provide everything they have on your account, all the information, including phone calls, emails etc, they have 40 days to supply all this info.
However there is a cheque payment or postal order of £10 you would have to enclose with for the request.
Here is the template, delete what does does not occur to you, and post by recorded delivery in order for proof and to keep a check on the timescales of 40 days.

Sent the above template off hun and they MUST provide everything they have on you, you may find that you will receive some useful info to help with your case, other than that as said on another post earlier, write to them to ask if there is a charge for them sending you copies of the agreements, then write to request for a copy of any agreement you do not have.

I think if they accept all PPI claims and pay back they would pay a lot more out. A lot of people are put off with the reply letter saying basically get stuffed. They do not take it further. Also the amounts they agree to pay out along with the FOS DO NOT take you back into a position as if you had not taken PPI cause then Rule 78 comes into place as Marshallka talks about.
They are funded by these institutions and they are very good at doing what they are able to do, My problems is that they do not have enough powers to make these people pay out within a certain time span. They are mediators and try to make us and the lenders work together.
The amount they charge is like p...ing into the wind with these lenders.:mad:0 -

Hi you should write to the company that sold you the PPI. GE money have been fined loads of money for miss selling PPI
Have you sent off for a full SAR and paid the ten pounds for that.
Do not be put off with what they are saying. Just give us more information and we can hopefully help you.:D
Below is a copy of a letter thank you Laini that people can use when claiming back PPI.

Sorry, maxdp, I meant in respect of credit card charges reclaims not PPI.
I had one for about £350 and the lender said 'go to the FOS' even after I'd said in my letter, "I know it will cost you £450 if I do, but if you insist, here's a copy of the complaint form I'm going to send them if you don't give me the money". Theydidn't, so I complained to the FOS, got the £350 back and they also had to pay the FOS the £450 quid.
No wonder banking in ths country is in trouble when they can't do their sums properly.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -

Hi Bathgatebuyer
See What you mean. Have not been able to catch up on all of the posts. Sorry. Anyway you can see what I mean about the other stuff:mad:
If they could get their act together it would take the pressure of the FOS and get people sorted, happily in other cases. Those people would then stay with the same card.or loan lenders. They are cutting off their nose to spite their face.:mad:0 -
Exactly. Those lenders who treated me properly when I was out of work and whose cover did 'what it said on the tin' (such as Cahoot who were blinkin' marvellous I must say) were those who got their money back first when I had it. Others such as the Halifax, well, I made them pay me for the inconvenience they caused me during that time!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
