  • Hi Everyone,

I had a few loans with PPI on them a few years back. I had the PPI because most of the loans I took out I was told that because my credit rating was poor I had to take out the PPI or I prob wouldn't get The loan. Anyway I now know because of this brilliant website that this was rubbish!!

I am in the process of claiming back the PPI from the companies that Have miss sold me the PPI.

Last week I received a letter from A&L offering me a full refund with 8% interest witch I have excepted and await the cheque.:j

    Not so good though with GE Money. Today I received a letter back from them saying;

Credit protection insurance was placed onto your account as this option was signed on the finance agreement in the dealership. I can also confirm that the dealership is independently authorized by the FSA to provide and sell insurance products directly. As the sale of the insurance was made with the dealership we would not be liable for this action and any issue surrounding the sale of this product should be raised with the dealership.

Does anyone have any views on this? Surly the hard sell of the PPI is directed by GE Money. I am unsure of how to go about my next step. Can anyone advise me on this please. Oh and the PPI option was not signed for. It was just ticked but not by me but by the sales person.

Exactly. Those lenders who treated me properly when I was out of work and whose cover did 'what it said on the tin' (such as Cahoot who were blinkin' marvellous I must say) were those who got their money back first when I had it. Others such as the Halifax, well, I made them pay me for the inconvenience they caused me during that time! :p

Good for you. Am so glad you did not stand for all their rubbish and got your due.:T:T:T:T

    Hi Steve
    And welcome.;)

Great news on A&L, well done !:T  :j

Right I take it then with the GE money, this is the bank you pay back the repayments, am I correct?
Now when they say dealership can you remember if this was something you had purchased in a store on finance?

Just trying to get this straight to make sure we help with the right answers here for you;)

In other words its the ones who arranged the finance is the ones you should deal with and pursue about this

  • I have heard that EGG has been fine within the last week. I have a credit card with them, I had ppi on my account till I cancelled the ppi a couple of months again. I have read a little of martin's guide and I don't think that I come under any catagory. Or do I? I cant remember if I ticked the box on the form when I signed up with egg years ago.

    Hi there hun
Even if you have cancelled and was sold the PPI between Jan 2005 onwards then you can stll try to reclaim as this was possibly mis sold to you.
Because when cancelling depending on how long after, they don't exactly give anything back as such, it just stopped, did they give anything back to you when you cancelled the PPI hun do you remember?

Can you remember how this was sold, by telephone etc ?

Now do you still have the agreement?

If not you can request for a copy of the original agreement for when this was first taken out, make sure they don't charge first, if so it should only be about a £1, if you request this in writing after finding out of there is a charge and post by recorded delivery as your proof, they should provide the copy within 12 days.;)

If this was a telephone call the chances are that they added the PPI automatically anyway.

Hi Neptune whoever sold it is liable for it. Who sold you that insurance. Were you aware you were buying PPI. Did they explain what you were insured for. Did they tell you that you did not have to take the insurance
out with them and direct you to independant PPI insurances.
