Hi all. I was wondering whether anybody could advise me about whether I should proceed with a claim against Abbey. My partner and I took out a mortgage with them in 2006 and were sold the Paymentcare Mortgage Protection (we took out the accident & sickness cover but not the unemployment cover). I cannot remember being asked whether either of us had a policy at work that would cover this at the time that we signed up. I have now discovered that I do have such a policy so would have been covered regardless. Thus I have cancelled the policy but would I be able to claim back any of my money on this? Thanks for any advice.
What reasons do you believe it was missold to you??

Did they ask you about the policy and what bits of it you would like or did they just omit the unemployment anyway??

The reason that I believe it was missold was due to the fact that I don't believe that I was asked if I had any existing cover (which it turns out that I did through work).

Marshallka received a reply to my email to CD:

Thanks for your email. I need to understand a bit more about your specific query so that I give you an accurate response. Could you email me a contact telephone number and a time that would be convenient for me to contact you tomorrow.

Why can't they just give me an answer? Do they have something to hide?

    From the compliance director

The quote from the FOS is surely good news. Think they are looking into it. If it was no it would be simple and it would not be covered. If they are looking into it they may well have another route to take. As the saying goes "there is more than one way to skin a cat"

Do not wish to we negative but please be careful with any telephone conversations you have with them as they may try to stitch you up and will record the conversation. Can you record the conversation you are having with them. Why can they not sort it out by letter:confused:

Know I am coming in half way through a conversation so sorry if I have got wrong end of the stick

Yes I know what you mean, I have emailed back to say "I was just curious as to who regulated CD prior to the FSA on 14 Jan 05? I have no indept reasons, only who was the regulator?

I believe it to be Lloyds of London but not sure.

I am not calling them I'm scared  , its a simple question that can be sent to me, don't understand why they need to know anymore.

I believe they do not want to tell anyone who it was?
