Hi there just about to start the process of reclaiming the PPI. However i am looking for information about the loans being applied for over the internet. I am certain i applied over the internet however i can recall the answer was not given over the internet and that an A&L representative called me with the answer and that i would only be accepted if i took the PPI. Does this sound similar to anyone and also will i have any problems getting a refund after A&L has paid out so much already?

    God Bless Martin L:rotfl:

    Hi there gowfer.
    Good luck with your reclaiming.;)

They should supply you with your agreement if you request this, and if this was sold over the internet or not they should let you know, contact them and see what they have to say.
Can you remember when this was (YEAR)?

I know a lot of the mis selling regarding A&L was being sold loans ppi over the telephone but the chances are with any way these were sold.

Let us know if you require further info. Cheers
    Di

    Hello,

I made a claim to my bank in August 2007 and made a claim for PPI x 2. This was turned down by the bank so I appealed to the banking ombudsman, although it has take well over a year I have now been offered a refund on one but not the other (the bank states that the other had clearly laid out Terms and Conditions).

I'm now not sure whether to accept the offer or not.
My question is, does anyone know whether this is a tactic used by the banks?

    Many thanks
    Rufies mum

    Hi there
Good news they have made an offer so that's a start, however contact the FOS to advise them about this.
Do you have the figure of what they have offered you on hand?
See what the difference in the amounts are first, because if your still not happy, you should tell the ombudsman that you want your complaint still to be investigated by themselves.;)

See their website where they today announce a ban on the sale of Single Premium PPI, which is a big win for this thread and it should make it easier to get your money back. (I will reply to all private messages asap)

Do you think this will only cover current single premiums in the ease with which money gets won back?

    Morning Max and Di xx

Sorry you are not well Di.:o

  • Here goes, I am looking for some help wondered if anyone out there could help me.
I took a loan out for over £5,000 over 3 years ago but as I missed a few payments it got sent to a debt recovery agency. This has now been forwarded back to the loan company as I missed a few further payments on this and I was wondering if I am still liable to claim? The loan company are in the process of sending me a personal budget planner but I do not want to fill this out if it's going to affect my claim in anyway.
If someone could please get back to me I would be very grateful. If you need more information then please ask and I will get back to you.

    Payment protection shake-up call

Competition Commission has called for payment protection insurance shake-up

The competition watchdog has called for a ban on the sale of controversial payment protection insurance alongside credit agreements.

The Competition Commission wants firms to have to wait 14 days after a customer has taken out a loan or credit card with them before they can contact them about buying PPI.

It said the delay would enable people to compare different products, and would also address the current advantage that providers who sell the cover alongside credit agreements have, increasing competition in the market.

Consumers will still be able to pro-actively contact the firm they took out credit with to buy a PPI policy within 24 hours.

The commission is also proposing a ban on the sale of single premium PPI policies, in which the cost for the entire term of the policy is paid upfront and usually added to the debt being taken out.

It said the structure of this product made it difficult for consumer to switch provider and shop around to compare deals.

Other proposals put forward by the commission to increase competition in the market include requiring PPI providers to give consumers a personal quote, clearly setting out the cost of the policy, both on its own and when added to the credit agreement.

If this quote is not given when the original credit agreement is taken out, the firm must give it to the consumer when they re-contact them and them wait for 14 days before they can sell them a policy.

But the commission stopped short of introducing a temporary price cap on the cost of the cover, which it said it was considering doing earlier this year.

PPI covers debt repayments if the holder is unable to work due to an
accident or illness or if they lose their job. It has been the subject of controversy in recent years after consumer groups complained it was being mis-sold to people who would never be able to claim on it.
