Good Evening,
I am looking for some advice about whether I have any chance of reclaiming PPI?
In Jan 2004 I took out a loan with HBOS for £6000 with PPI at £1175.80 added on. In June 2006 my circumstances changed and I had to start a DMP to all my creditors and when I started the DMP I was advised to cancel all my insurances as they were nill and void.
When I contacted HBOS I was told that I could not cancel the PPI on the loan as I was now on a DMP.
I now wonder do I have a case for getting PPI cancelled and refunded due to the fact the HBOS refused to cancel a insurance I can never use?
Any advice would be really helpful.
Thanks.0 -

Hi there
Good to see you here.;)
Right I am not sure what the rights are exactly if your on DMP, but even though I am not certain I think I hear that you could still try to reclaim on the ppi if you feel you were mis sold for any reason.
Maybe someone else here can confirm this for you.
However, for your purpose check out the link I will add below and you will come across some useful ppi information and also a template letter you can use to help with your letter, please try to write in your own words and of course with your reasons of why you believe you were mis sold.

They have 8 weeks to get back, another letter maybe required in order for them to reconsider if not successful first time round, as soon as you receive the final decision, they should also mention the financial ombudsman service, who you can take this complaint to if not successful.
Post by recorded post to keep an eye on the 8 weeks deadline.
If you still not heard from them by the deadline then fill out a form to the FOS anyway.
If you let us know the outcome, we will guide you every step of the way.
Good luck.;)

Thanks for your help Ive written my letter to A&L and sent an email and registered my claim via their telephone line. (ive had a busy evening) I took your advise and mentioned the previous loan and the fact that it was a consolidation. I even found the initial loan aggreement so fingers crossed and i will keep you up to date with how i get on. thanks againOfficial DFW nerd 206 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi
i have recently recieved a reply from first plus with ref to me complaining to the ombudsman about being mis-sold the ppi loan.first plus have finally replied saying they did not mis sell the policy but if i want to cancel i will get £1164.93 and a gesture from them of £3562.86 which will come directly off my loan. the policy was £11000 from when i took it out in 2006. could any one tell me is this something i should accept even though it makes very little impact on my loan or should i continue with the obudsman.
please help0
