  • Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone has had success claiming PPI refund from MBNA credit card? I've been paying PPI on my cc for longer than I care to remember. I'm actually on the phone at the min trying to cancel it, but I don't remember how/why I took it out in the first place!!!
    Any advice appreciated.

If the actual loan was 13700 then (???) being 15K less the 1300

then the PPI element would be 0.086% (which is worked out at 1300 divided by 15000).
I don't know what else I can tell you on this one...

Thanks for this - much appreciated. So how would I calculate how much money, in interest, has been charged to date. It's been 31 months since I took out the loan.

About 7 years ago i took out a loan for £14000 with Lombard direct and stupidly took out the PPI for a cost of about £4500 (don't remember the exact figure) which was also lent to me at the time of taking the loan out. So in effect i was paying interest on about £18500. I finshed paying the entire loan off in August 2007

Firstly i am an asthamatic which i assume would not have been covered under the policy should i have become too bad to work. i never remember them asking if i had any pre-existing medical condition.

Are companies allowed to make you take out a loan and pay interest on the PPI?

Does anyone think i have a valid claim as i paid out ovber £5000 for something that potentially would nothave benefited me under certain pre-existing medical conditions.

Please help as i cannot establish whether i may have a valid claim.

    Hi there
    Good to see you here.

PPI is optional and when you were sold this really it should have all been explained to you.

However, if you feel you have been mis sold then try reclaiming.;)

Check out the above red bix reclaim £1,000's there is also info on there to give you an idea, and also a template to help you, but add your own reasons, keep the letter strong, they have 8 weeks to get back to you, then we will take it from there, so if you post back after you receive a response, we will take you on to the following step.

    Good luck

What were your repayments... I can work out the repayments + the interest...

I think there should be a great deal who have had experience with these.
When did you take this card out (year)? and have you any of the paperwork, agreements to this ?
We will work where to go from here.;)

    Cheers
    Di.

Thanks again, I'll get back to you about this if that's okay - when I originally got the loan I was paying around £400 per month but now I've reduced that to the minimum of £250 (as I was made redundant last year).

I've called Egg and they are going to send me a statement listing all payments from when the Loan first started - I'll then be able to get back to you with proper figures as I'd be purely guessing at the moment.

    ElastiMum:

I would contact them if you have no copies of the agreement(s), they may supply these free of charge or maybe charge a £1.

You have the rights to your agreement, when you have this you may remember the sale of this.

Was you working when you taken this out?
Were you eligible for the cover, such as any pre med conditions when taking this out?
    There are many reasons.

I used to think ppi was part of the credit card agreement, never told otherwise, and was a homemaker, yet they regenerated their own printed cross on the unemployment side of it !

Try to check out on your agreement, this may bring the memory of this sale back.;)
