KJ - is your circumstance like mine? Did you tick a PPI box on a credit card application form? Or was it 'sold' to you by a member of Halifax staff?

Just trying to assess the likelihood of a claim being paid if the consumer opts in without taking advice...

    Cheers!

Hi! I did it all over the phone (the credit check etc...) - so yes it was "sold" to me by a member of Halifax staff.

They have already sent out a copy of my agreement, so I've got it to hand. I've just started filling out the template letter and am a bit stuck now. Where it says about salesperson mis-selling I'm not sure what to put or how to word it because it was an internet application with the boxes pre-filled for PPI. Any tips?
    Thanks everyone:o

All you have to put is that you believe you were mis sold as the PPI was pre ticked and so you believed this to be compulsary and had to have it .
I know the FOS frowns on pre ticked boxes.

Halifax will probably take 6-8 weeks but if you win they pay out quickly and with interest.

Right hun, this seems to be an issue for others that have been in the same situation as you.

Do you mind posting what reasons you feel you were mis sold on altogether?

You need to write, "this was an internet application, where the Insurance boxes were pre-ticked, as you thought this was then part of the application",that was why you had signed it. Something along those lines hun.

I am sure if this went as far as the financial ombudsman service, they will see it your way.;)

I feel I was mis - sold because I didn't expect the application to go through and thought the PPi would benefit me, would never have wanted to bump the loan up by 2k otherwise. To be honest if I had needed to claim I wouldn't have had a clue if I was covered or not.
This is hubby's loan but easier to word on here as mine. Took loan out Sept 2003 hubby left job in April 2004 (hated job), tried to cancel PPi over phone OH was told to go down bank, but was told he'd have to start a new loan, so it was useless after that.

    Hi there
Yes they have 8 weeks to respond in full.

If they do not keep to their timescales and you do not hear by then, you can still take your complaint to the FOS.

    Halifax may try stalling.......

When are the 8 weeks up hun ? Cheers.;)

Hi! Thanks for replying - well I am thinking it must be eight weeks after I received the acknowledgement letter on the 12th January? Or maybe from the date they received my letter. I hope they will pay it back to me.

I will contact the FOS then - using all the helpful tips I have picked up on here :-)

Do you know of many people who Halifax have stalled? I have seen a few people who have had successes with Halifax on this forum - but wasn't sure if that was with a Halifax loan rather than a credit card. x
