LUS is there for those who need a basic contact (ie. vulnerable or those who are deemed poor by the requirements of LUS).As soon as you want to migrate the system will flag up that you have LUS & you will have to move onto a normal tariff should you wish to change BB suppliers.0 -
I think everyone on the LUS is fully aware of that, but it's very nice of you to preach the BT mantra just in case any of us had forgotten!
Useful.
I'm not preaching it at all, im a firm believer that if you can afford to pay for the broadband then you can do the same for the line rental. LUS is there for people who genuinely need it.0 -

I'll give you a clue- it's the first two words of the name of these forums.0 -

I was on this a few years ago as all I used the landline for was BB, I never used it for calls other than 0870 / 0845 numbers as I had a mobile with a decent amount of minutes, and they didnt query it....
But how would they know I had a mobile?
I have had LUS for years with ADSL.:D
Checked the BT site, no mention of LUS anymore, so no provision for new users.0 -

I was moved to the LUS years and years ago by BT because I used my phone very occasionally, not because I was vulnerable or particularly poor.0 -

says who?
The link that you have posted has been on the bt website since april 2007, there is no mention within it that says LUS will be withdrawn for existing cutomers.
Do you have any more info other than the posted link?0 -

The low user scheme is nothing to do with being deemed poor by BT.
It is there because it is a requirement of BTs licence.
They have to provide a scheme for low users - not low paid users!
There has always been a similar scheme (under different names since before BT was privatised).
So it's a bit of a shocker to find ex-BT employees saying things like this.0 -

Sorry - you used to be didn't you?
I have corrected this false accusation, hope it is now accurate!0
