  • Morning all and hi to all newbies! Cold and bright here today, will spend this morning cleaning living room, this winter sun doesn't half show up the dust lol.
A friend called yesterday and brought us two tickets for a Christmas party (Country and Western ) of course which he had paid for as a gift, so my social diary is filling up nicely!!!
DH has an interview at a new agency tomorrow, so fingers crossed they will have some work for him.
Doing roast chicken and trimmings for lunch, with semolina for afters.
I am going to contact MIL and DD1 to see if they fancy going down to Meat Trader at Gateshead before Xmas and stocking up, if we share the cost we should be able to get some good deals, on some bulk buys.
Have a good day all BSB xx

Kaat - I've been wondering about RedRuby, too. I hope she's OK?

    Candygirl - (((hugs))) to you.

Well, the sheets are drying beautifully on the line, upstairs and downstairs have been dusted and hoovered, I've just submitted some written work that I was asked to do this morning do so that is unexpected earnings, a voucher I sent off for some time ago arrived via the postie, I have two loaves proving, the bread-and-butter pudding tastes divine and I'm sat here with a rewarding coffee, having just walked up to the post office to post some letters. I finally decided it was cold enough to wear my full-length coat - I'm so glad I bought it a couple of years ago because it really keeps me warm. It's a dark grey so I treated myself to a shocking pink scarf to go with it. It's so cold out there I even had to wear my gloves. Winter has started early, I think!

Wannabe - you can buy Dylon dyes which can be used in the washing machine. I'm not sure if they sell it in supermarkets but you should find it in hardware stores. They're meant to be very good these days and I'm sure you'll find the right shade. Other than that, you could always soak the mat in some strong black tea or coffee, maybe?

Anyway, off to get on with the paperwork. See you all later.

    Afternoon all.

And a white and cold one it is here in Concrete Cow Country. Mr LW phoned earlier to inform me that he will be *even* later than expected tonight, and has to work late tomorrow as well. It's a nuisance; we were going to attend the local CAMRA beer festival tomorrow, so it's likely we won't be able to go now.

I've been using my Mini Duster to dust round the ornaments in the lounge, as my hands aren't good enough to lift some of the heavier stuff like the pewter dragons at the mo. (Mini Duster is a sort of fine, very flexible brush that attracts the dust to it by static electricity http://www.lakeland.co.uk/astonish-mini-duster/F/keyword/Mini+Duster/product/8953 if you're curious).

We have bought a pumpkin, and as Mr LW is on leave on Friday, we'll do stuff with it then, while he's here to do the knife-work for me.

Well, I'm off to get a hot cup of tea, as it's perishin' here.

  • Hi all
Well it just shows how tight I really am, I went to Dunelm Mills but didn't buy anything as I found it all too expensive. I finally got a duvet & pillows from Mr S, just under £14 for the pillows & KS duvet. I'll go & make the bed in a sec & then the room will be all ready for the lodger on Monday.
WS, if you do dye the mat in your WM, don't forget to run an empty cycle or one with some bleach in, to ensure your next load of washing doesn't come out a funny colour, & yes it is the voice of experience speaking here, lol.
    Hugs Hester

  • Hi all!

Still not really able to walk right now without help from my OH and emotionally I still feel pretty fragile - kept bursting into tears yesterday but am Ok so far today!

sybil - thank you honey - it was the struggle of me trying to get up that caused more damage than the fall really - hence my knees being in bits right now. And your story did make me laugh. Treaclecat2.gif is one of those cats who homes in on anyone with a cat allergy and tries to sit on their laps.
Lamewolf - thank you - I am still quite shaken up by the experience. But am resting as the Dr told me too and my OH is being a darling.
floss, mioliere, Glad, Cas, Beth, Ivyleaf, Candy, Kaat and Hester - Thank you all. The ambulance men were lovely, one of them gave me a big cuddle cos I was in bits by the time they got here.
canidothis and kla - welcome2.gif! You will love it here and never want to leave..*evil halloween-y chuckle*
sickofhavingnomoney - your story of slipping on a grape made me laugh
Beth - That is great news. I am so pleased for you all.

My MIL is here today and normally I would have been in the garden with her as she helps with the flower beds I cannot reach, but because of my fall I am stuck here but my OH is going to keep his mum company out there getting the garden ready for winter. It's really cold here but no snow thank goodness.

Not much OS to report cos I am mostly bed bound but am hoping to sit at the dining table later and make hobnobs - I want my OH to drop them in for the ambulance crews that helped on Monday.
smileyhug.gifto anyone who needs one today.

  • Money Saving Diva - I am so sorry that you are still shaken. I once read that if you fall your soul gets shaken out of your body and can take time to settle back. At the time I considered it absolute twaddle but the jolt that you get is so much worse than the bruises, you can end up really shocked. I was too poorly to take an interest in chocolate! The only thing to do is to rest. A little silver tabby with truly orange eyes just tried to sneak into the house when I put out some rubbish. She looked absolutely beautiful, and it is so cold, but apart from the reaction of evil cat to any newcomer, she did have a collar on. I have to say, I was tempted to let her in for a warm as evil cat was upstairs.

Thank you for all the suggestions about dying the rug. There are a large selection of dylon washing machine dyes on ebay, which is my friend. It would be more Old Style to use coffee, and just a washing machine dye without lots of stained wooden spoons and rubber gloves does seem a bit of an anticlimax from the one time I actually tried to dye something many years ago when everything went purple except the t-shirt, but something in a packet with clear instructions sounds just right.

Now, little bear is napping and I am just about to start to go and do something - honest.
