Good morning everyone
It's half-term, I'm off for the whole week, I have promised myself at least one lie-in this week but DS woke me up at 7.20am. Well, he is excited, bless. It's his 16th birthday and he has a fantastic electric guitar as his present. So, it looks like the lie-in will have to be postponed for another day.
He wants to go out for dinner tonight so I don't have to meal plan for that but he wanted me to make the Rocky Road recipe that was posted on here recently as the first batch was so good. So a HUGE thank you to betheebee or Squiggly Diddly. Sorry I can't remember who actually posted the recipe but you are star in this house.I made it last night and only have to put the chocolate on.
He has also asked me to make lasagne for tomorrow so the mince has defrosted and I will make a start on it today.
He very kindly painted a *very* (and I mean very  ) high wall on the staircase for me yesterday as I am such a wuss when it comes to heights. It will definitely need another coat but I'll let him off today. The colour is a lovely sage green and I plan on doing the rest in an antique cream colour.
Betheebee what fantastic news! :j
Candygirl (hugs) to you. I hope the funeral went well. Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with things recently.
(((hugs))) to all who need one and :j to anyone with something to celebrate.
Have wonderful Wednesday. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Morning all! ,another one who was absent yesterday!
Betheebee - great news for your family!:j
(((hugs))) to those who need one
Am off to work later then got my weigh in tonight:eek: at SW - hope to STS.
Freezing cold here ATM, am going to treat myself to a microwavable hot water bottle - wheat bag type thingy today from Dunelm where they are very reasonably priced.
Hope you all have a lovely day
Take care xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hi
Not been on the last 2 days as I work mon and Tues.
Good news Betheebee and JackieO:j it must be such a relief! I nurse people with cancer and it is so lovely when you have some good news to share after all the worry.
Now off the rest of half term with ds. He is finding it a struggle as routine has changed(he is autistic) and the clocks going back have also thrown him a bit...he has a thing for clocks and keeps saying "my clocks have all gone wrong"
Have some cleaning to do today and WM to put on soon and will have to use the TD
Very cold here so have the heating on a bit in the morning and a couple of hours at night till ds in bed.
May have to have it on a bit in the day while ds is off depending on how cold it is.....when alone in the house during the day I usually sit under a fleece blanket lol.
Mr T delivering this morning and am making macaroni cheese with roast toms on the side for tea. Will see how OH gets on with that as he is at dentist later for an extraction.
Can anyone point me to this Rocky Road recipe as have searched and can`t find it
have a lovely day everyone and hugs to anyone struggling at the mo

Hi guys,
Betheebee, great news for you and your family. Sounds like you have another busy day ahead!:D
Gentle hugs to Pen-pin, candygirl, MSD, Snowy and Dylan and anyone else who needs one.
CM - congratulations, and Glad - I hope the tree is removed soon, it must be a worry for you.
Well I am on enforced leave from work as LO has gone down with chicken pox. I sent him in to nursery yesterday with 3 random spots and he came home with plenty more!! Bless him as he isn't 'ill' with it but nursery won't have him back (understandably) and I have no one else to look after him so I will put my bed together (finally arrived yesterday:T :T ) and finish off the last of the painting today. The other two have gone as usual today as I just paid £245 for the three days yesterday and have no intention of wasting all of the fees.
The SC is on with a nice chicken casserole, WM on and it looks like a nice drying day allthough it is cold. The house has been straightened out and swiped so another coffee being finished and the I will get going upstairs.
Have a good day everyone,
Smoky. xxxx
Edit - JackieO, Great news hun - I will join you in a large celebratory gin at the weekend.

Morning all! Thanks for all the welcomes from people. I was up until quite late last night reading through threads and have come on this morning to find even more to read through;) My plan today is to visit a National Trust property, plan some meals and then do the food shopping. Whether that happens or not we shall see!0

Good morning everyone:D
Another lovely sunny Autumn day here. Crisp and bright. Washing is spinning as I type so that will go out shortly.
Yesterday we took eldest DGS to the park and had a wonderful time rolling in the leaves, blowing bubbles and flying paper airplanes;) There wasn't another soul about which I find strange as all the schools round his way are on half term
Today I have the old folks LunchClub, so in a minute I shall start preparing half a ton each of potatoes, brussels sprouts and carrots. That may be a tiny exaggeration on veggie quantities:rotfl:
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to Bookie's DS!! ( Oh the joys of a teenager with a guitar:eek: I remember them well:rotfl: )
Beth, that's great news.
Welcome to all new posters.
Snowy, any updates? Thoughts with you.
smoky, have the others had the chickenpox, or do you have that joy to look forward to?
Well, best make tracks, CM xYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Morning everyone. Cold day to day, lots of frost & ice around but no snow. Spanish chicken in the SC today, having lots of things with peppers at the moment, I picked up eight peppers RTC for 99p the other day.
Hoovering this evening and then re-doing my sons geography homework (with his help). Its all about reducing his carbon foot print. Seems he spent two, maybe three minutes on it yesterday. They say the first forty years are the hardest for parents don't they?0 -
:hello: Good morning!
So glad to hear the good news, JackieO and Betheebee!:j :j :j :j
moneysavingdiva - I hope your poor knees are feeling better this morning:( What a nasty thing to happen!
Smokybabe - sorry to hear about the chickenpox, especially after paying the nursery fees (((HUGS))) You will proboaly find that the others catch it, unless they've had it already.
Churchmouse - congrats again on your new granddaughter! Hopefully they will send you lots of photos! Hope lunch club goes well, I don't envy you with all those veggies to prepare.
WELCOME to our new posters - there seem to be quite a few :hello:and belated Happy Birthday to Icewytch.
Snowy and Dylan - ((((HUGS)))) Thinking of you.
Hester - Good luck with the new lodger - if he/she is anything like Katy , at least it won't be for long.
Stefejb - I hope the ginger biscuits will help your DD. What a lovely mum you are! Has she got a pair of those sea-sickness bands that work on the acupressure points in the wrist? My DD1 had terrible sickness when expecting her DS and they really helped.
(((((HUGS))))) to everyone who needs some, and Congratulations to those celebrating.
Thanks to Squiggly (I think!), who wished my migraine better - it was gone when I woke the next morning:D
Marie -so glad Ulick is doing well. I gather it's a bit chilly over there!
I had my pneumonia jab yesterday, and had to have it in the left arm as I'd had the flu one in my right arm the day before. Haven't had any problems with the flu one, just a tender place where it was done, but the pneumonia one has left my arm quite stiff and painful. DH said he had the same problem. I get a lot of problems with that arm as it is, so it's made it worse than usual - and I'm left-handed  Oh well, hopefully it won't last long, and I'll never need another one as it lasts for life. It's brought back memories of waiting at the bus stop after a visit to the welfare clinic with my Mum - loads of us kids in the queue, all standing there clutching our arms and looking pained
It's beautifully sunny here this morning! No wind though, and no sun shining on my garden as it faces north, so washing will have to go in the TD when WM finishes.
Better stop now, as my eyes are playing up this morning so my spelling has been eccentric to say the least, as I keep hitting the wrong keysso I keep cursing and re-typing
Have a good day everyone.

Update
That's the Tesco shop done & put away. I'm going iceskating in a minute, well I call it that, the decking is like a skating rink & I have another load of washing to hang on the line. Then I'm off to Dunelm Mills, there is one not far from me & I need to get a new duvet & pillows for the lodger, Katy seems to have spilt a lot of stuff on both & they are really grotty looking, I may also have a look in Matalan & Asda to see which is cheapest.
Hugs to Snowy & Ivy

Good morning
Bethebee - I am so pleased for your news!
Now, I have been a bit slow to start this morning so I have nothing Old Style to report however...
I could do with a mat in front of the fire. I have a number of big bath mats that I actually intended for little bear's room until I decided they were a trip hazard. They are white cotton (very inexpensive from Matalan). Evil cat loves shedding tabby hairs on anything white, and little bear drops crumbs, milk, juice, tea dregs he is being chased for and all the rest. I think I would like to dye it. My first instinct was to dye it black because all the hearthrugs I grew up with were black, but that was so that they didn't show burns from the sparks from the coal fire. I would quite like to dye it a coppery colour. Does anyone have any suggestions?Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
