Can't be right, debasur. We're high users and that's three times what we used.0

Thats what my bill is.
Though to be fair we moved in at April time and stupidly did`nt check the meters in all the excitement of getting our new house.
The bill states an estimate reading last time, and an actual reading in october so i hope it is just a "catch up" bill.If they are like this every time then i`m moving!!
House is a 3 bed semi- just me and my girlfriend -both out at work mon-fri and careful about what we use.
When i phoned southern electric the advisor kept saying my average is 6 units a day ,the national average being 8-12, but the maths dont add up.0 -
Ah, estimated. Thought you meant you'd used that amount. You should check you Apr-Jul bill and make sure the opening reading was reasonable (presumably you read the meter soon after moving in even if you didn't check as soon as?).
In any case, weekly meter readings will allow you to calculate an average.0 -
Our gas usage for the last 12 months 27th May 2007 to 28th May 2008 was a huge 28,591 KWH. For the quarter 24th Nov 2007 to 26th Feb 2008 we used a horrendous 19,838 Kwh which averages about 220 Kwh per day over 90 days approx.
Our electric for the same period was 5,683 KWH
Two months ago we had cavity wall insulation installed.
One month ago we had a new Condensing boiler installed.
We are hoping we will do a lot better this year. Large 1998 4 bed detached, occupied all day every day, 2 adults + 2 children having the heating on all day bumps it up a lot, which we have done the last couple of cold days. Keeping the stat at 20 deg, so far managed it, and putting on more clothes, both disabled and need to keep heating on.
I shall have to start taking some daily/weekly readings to see how we are doing.
29th May 2008 to 30th Aug 2008 we used only 77 Kwh of gas.
29th May to 30th Aug we used 1251 Kwh of electric.
My targets for May 2008 to May 2009 are 20,000 Kwh of gas and 5,000 Kwh of electric.
I think we are doing quite well on water saving, have got that down to £21 per month now.0 -
Wow tightperson, that's a LOT of gas - how much electricity did you use, out of interest?
For my last 12 month average, last worked out on 30/9/8, I was using an average on 9,889kWH on gas and 5042kWh on electricity.
As I am constantly trying to make savings, this should very slowly, but surely, go down. This was an improvement on the previous month's yearly average - gas had dropped by about 200kWh and electricity dropped by about 50kWh. :j:beer:Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
Ooh, tightperson, at last a family who use more than us! Our usage (6 adults and teens in 3 bed house) for Nov/Feb was 2212 elec and 13230 gas.
For this summer, elec was 1228 - about the same as you but our gas was 2380. How have you used less than a kwh a day of gas (77kwh a quarter)?0 -
tightperson - that's a massive about of gas. Wow! I thought we used a lot too.
I've just got my paper statements in today and for the period 15th Jul 08 until 24th Oct 08, we used 2439Kwh of electricity. That's with a house where half of us are insomniacs.
The gas for the same period was 3685kWh.0 -
I couldn't tell you what we've used for our gas and electric recently because I've never understood the bills & DH just chucks them.
I signed up to imeasure last week & have submitted 2 readings (8 days worth- I got confused!).
I'm getting palpitations reading everyone elses usage. For the 8 days I have measured I used 80Kwh of electric (10Kwh/day) and 314Kwh of gas (39.25/day). Wouldn't mind but it's been freezing inside here. We have the heating at 18 degrees no higher and have lit the fire 4 times to keep us warm.
I guess I'm just going to have to try harder!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Gas Units used from 1st Sep --> 23rd October (52 days, the 1st we used 0 units, then went from 2nd-->23rd) we used 76 units, which is 1.43 units a day.
It says on our bill used 2409.64 kWh used.
Its freezing in this house at the moment! (well only my room)
