Homebase - case for compensation

If they had already fitted the shower because they were told the door would only be a couple of days then I can see why they waited. It also may have been the exact type/size/colour they required. people make buying descions for many, many reasons. The OP was kept hanging on and hanging on, I would assume they were chasing the store weekly, and spending this much time doing the chasing costs money in calls etc, it also costs in loss of personal time, which in most cases is worth far more ££'s per hour to us then most of us get paid in our day jobs.
So do I think they should get it for free. Actually yes I do.0 -
Hindsight makes a situation much clearer than it is at the time. I guess when told initially that the unit would follow shortly, then the op would, justifiably, choose to wait. I suspect that if she knew from the outset how long it would be she would have cancelled and gone elsewhere. She would still likely face a wait if she'd reordered from another retailer.
Sometimes people on here can't win - if they don't give the retailer a chance to deliver/rectify then they are damned - yet if they wait it is their own foolish fault!
What on earth was all that in the middle of this thread?0 -
i was wondering that too

Then don't you get disappointed on a regular basis when you have a problem with a retailer?
That if the item had taken a year to arrive? Would you expect a full refund and cash on top?
What if you waited a year and they told you they could not get it?
How long would you wait?
I would have given up after a month and gone elsewhere, and not wasted my time. I feel £100 is fair, and I don't think the OP will get any more.0 -
Why ask for compo anyway? why not make sure they apologise and learn from their mistakes, a stiff letter to md does the trick.#JusticeForGrenfell0

have had a shower enclosure sitting in my living room for 5 months and now I have two as the driver the other day was apparently only dropping off, he was not told that there was a pickup so refused to take the extra stock!!
It's like all the big firms once they get your money they are not interested.
I would have said stuff you Homebase and sold the extra one on Ebay but made a comment about the chip.
If the damaged unit had been wanted they would have taken it, then more than likely just chuck in a skip back at HQ.
Why didn't you just take it back to the shop you bought it from and exchanged it there and then.Chocolate is the solution to all life's problems. Life happens, also coffee helps.0 -

So what would you do in the OP's position?
You wait five months to get the item, they offer you £100, but you think you are entitled to £120 per month, tax free. Money savers on here are keen to know.0
