Fed up with my Sony Bravia TV.

Never mind what the engineer says, get over to AVForums as Feesh says. There are people there that will get you fixed up. I have a 40" Sony Bravia and don't see your problems with football or any other sport for that matter although I will add that it did at first make my eyes run if I watched it for too long but I think that was just getting used to the extra contrast and size. Now I wouldn't change.0

Feesh, what should be in place of the !!!!!!!!! in the links you put above?0

Feesh, i think you are right, when i bought this tv all i did was look at all the tv's in the shop and the sony was the best picture by far, initially the 32" was the one we wanted but then the 40" was only £50 more, so thats why we got it.
Having said that, when i got all our other tv's, i bought them the same way and never had ANY problems, seems to me that technology moves on whether it's any good or not.
I can not recommend this particular TV to anybody for watching sports.
Having had a quick look on Google, it would appear that i am not alone in having a poor picture from a Sony TV.Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -

Sorry, it was a !!!!!!! link, which this forum doesn't seem to like in case I am secretly linking to !!!!!! or something :rotfl:
Which I'm not
Anyway it was just the result of a Google search using the phrase "Sony Bravia KDL 40T2800 optimum settings" and the top 2 results were both AVForums

That's not a good way to buy a TV - you are wholly reliant on how the staff in the shop have set their TVs up. As I have found out, LCDs have bloody hundreds of different things in the menu that can be tweaked and will seriously affect the picture quality.
Also have heard rumours of them setting some models up to deliberately look bad, to try and push people into buying other, harder-to-shift, or more profitable, TVs.Having had a quick look on Google, it would appear that i am not alone in having a poor picture from a Sony TV.
But as I found out when I was buying, Sonys differ hugely across the range. The letter 'T' in your model number is significant, but I couldn't tell you how as I can't remember
It's a total minefield trying to understand Sony model codes. Real bargains kept appearing in my local Sainsburys - I would research them and find out that they were nowhere near as good as my Mum's Sony.
In the end we went with Samsung from Costco as we knew we were getting a good deal and could return it if we didn't like it.0 -
I'm so glad, reading this thread, that I'm not the luddite that i sometimes feel. I still have CRT Tvs because I'm yet to see a panel which, to me, looks as good with a normal digital input. HD might well look fantastic, but I'm not going to receive any HD content for a long time. Looks like a case of "the emperor's new clothes"Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
