Going to stay on £200 please and keep spending any surplusses on stock piling. Also going to put takeaways into the GC budget as is too easy to get one as a cheat when gc budget is running low.Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0

Whoever was worried about their nearly 1/4 budget going, I'm almost 1/2 way through mine and only 1 week into the budget  .
Well, I won the love food hate waste giveaway so look forward to being able to use my new goodies to cut costs even further! My breadmaker is on for the first time in I can't remeber how long. Tea for tomorrow is already sorted and cooked, ready to reheat. My freezer is jam packed so apart from milk coming in the next few days I won't be spending any pennies.
I will be looking around to try and find some recipes which will let 1 trout feed all 4 of us. I expect it will be along the lines of a pasta bake or a fish pie.
Freezer desperately needs defrosting so I'd better get it run down a little so I can do that!

£200 again for November please
I sort of lost my way in October and didn't keep track of the spending so I MUST get back on track
It's really helping with my budgeting. I'm no longer overdrawn each month and know on a daily basis what's in my bank account.
You lot are brilliant!0 -
Hello all,
This month I am going to lower my budget to £80, for me, for the month.
I will need to do a freezer and cupboard inventory and plan my meals from that.
I suppose if I am really ambitious, I could include my works lunches and snacks in that, but for the moment I don't think I am quite ready for that
I will declare at £88.85 as I don't think I will be buying anything else in the next two days.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
There are some threads on here that have recipies costing 50p or £1. The secret is to really meal plan and cook in bulk where possible, freezing the excess for another time. Cheap, filling meals include shep pie, spag bol, chilli con carne, rubber chicken (roast chicken, followed by pie, followed by risotto, followed by chicken soup!) pasta with home made tomato sauce, home made pizza and home made wedges, sausage casserole, omlettes, egg, home made chips and beans, pasta bake (left over chicken, bacon, fish, veg - whatever you have in fridge bung it in!), lasagne, spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic and herbs etc!
And for cleaning all you need is a bottle of Stardrops - lasts ages and you can use it for everything!MFW 2011 challenge - Aim: Overpay £414.26 a month/£5,000 a year. Overpayment Total to date: £414.26:jMortgage start 28/9/07 £46,217.00 :TMortgage balance as of 25/05/11 £24,490.58 :T

Well, i've done my first shop for November and it came at £37.91. My freezer is pretty full with meat and I do have a bit of an advantage because my son works for MrT so I can get 10% off my bill, also managed to pick up so good deals at a 90% reduction:j It does mean however that I need some recipes for the 10lb of carrots I bought for 45p - we don't like carrot soup but I might be tempted to have a go at carrot cake :T
I also thought I might keep track of any nsd's I manage, that's not going to be easy with three teenagers and a husband in tow!0 -
PLEASE PUT ME DOWN FOR £220 FOR NOVEMBER,I HAVENT FINISHED OCTOBERS CHALLENGE YET.
MANY THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE XX0 -
I used porridge oats to bulk out mince for bolognese sauce this week. Worked great.0

Someone mentioned buying minced beef from Tesco -! They're so expensive! Asda had some 300g packs of minced beef for £1 the last time I was in there, that's cheaper than it was a year ago.Sealed Pot Challenge number 298, up yours HSBC!0
