Hi all:hello:
Not quite ready to declare for Oct as will need to pop to Lidl later today for a couple of bits as I have people coming for dinner tonight. Will definately be well under target though:D
Will set budget at £220 again as I want to get a couple of bits towards Christmas and also my budget was under this time due to some mega whoopsies (lots of meat/fish for 10p!). This is the first time I have been lucky like this and probably my last, so want to set a budget that's realistic!
Thanks0 -
Hi All
Mrs Mc I'd like to join the November grocery challenge can you please put me down for £200 - thanks.0 -
Morning all!
Just wanted to post on the shiny new thread and wish everyone good luck with their new grocery challenges!
This is my third month - and so far I have come in under on each of the totals so have been able to lower my target yet again. I am really enjoying the challenge and even my OH is doing his best to curb his impulse buying, bless him!
We also have a freezer with ingredients for at least 10 meals by my workings out, so that should stand us in good stead for the beginning of this month.
Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm in, need to update my sig. I declare at £307.34 for October. I'm in for £300 for November.
Managed a massive coup last night at Asda. Spent £23.88 and saved £42+. Need to reign it in and run down the freezer ready for Christmas eve shopping!
I picked up 6 bags of carrot and coriander soup mix for 10p each. Also got some lovely salads.
Got some nice turkey steaks out of the freezer for tonight because I had to make space for the 9 trout I bagged!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Woohoo!! shiny new thread, shiny new budget
MrsMC would you put me in for £80 please; not sure how I'll do - my store is pretty full but I want to stock up with meat for the freezer and might look for some Christmas extras
What's everyone cooking for Christmas dinner this year? I usually have turkey breast but might have roast beef or lamb :happyhear I shall have Christmas day alone (spend other days with family but I refuse to leave the house on Christmas day!) and so I can be quite self-indulgent, pennies permitting... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Oh dear...think I've accquired that magic porridge pot from the kiddies fairy story
I'm staying wiv me muvva for a couple of days while she has her catarract op, so made a spag bol base to make up a lasagne for the offspring to put in the oven for tomorrow's meal. [By the way; have you noticed MrT is doing the value mince in a lovely fine cut now :j ]
Anyhoo, last night I made a veggie stock from all the peelings I've been keeping for a couple of weeks to make the base. Today I've added grated carrot, diced peppers [that were in the freezer from a couple of months ago] tin of chopped toms & some dried soya mince to the two lots--one is for Pup & doesn't have onion.
I know I was hoping to have enough for two dinners for 4 from ours & two for Pup, but I think there will be enough to make a couple of snack-sized portions for the workers to take for lunch too :T & m'be a jacket potato filler from Pup's.
As for :xmastree: lunch....I'm leaning towards a leg of lamb at the mo, with probably [bought] meringue nests & fruit for pud; it's become a bit of a tradition now & I'd love to try summat else but we live in a democracy
We have  West Country cream from the milkman as our special treat so don't want anything too heady to detract from that! I might also go for one of the Pear ciders I tried earlier in the year--think it was Bulmers one I liked best--unless I can convince my not-so-helpful rellies to arrange a delivery of some rough farm scrumpy

Feb Grocery Challenge £2500 -
I'm in again :j (£133.30 for Nov)
I've no idea what we're going to have for Xmas - we are all veggie so its not very traditional! Its usually soup for starter, some kind of pie (chestnuts have featured for the last few years. My mum makes it up as she goes along so its never the same) and misc veg, Xmas pud and a variation of trifle with yoghurt instead of custard :T :rotfl: Not sure what the plans for this year are as my parents are away until a day or 2 before xmas. I have a sneeking suspision I'm going to be cooking the major bits this year  I'd better learn to cook something other than soup and basic curry then or it could be an "interesting" meal:rotfl:
