You have to pay for the 'fruity' ones.
    How much?

    Is there a satisfaction guarantee?

Reading of your situation and seeing your pics is somehow humbling. It's strange when a screen name on a forum becomes a real person...

By the way, fair skinned redhead folk in Australia... ouch!! Don't forget the sun lotion and massive floppy hats.

Generali. I can't be there (commitments, location, etc.), but I wish you well. I enjoy your posts, and the feeling of the person behind them - good egg and all that.

She nearly cried when she saw him load a washing machine.
    Terrible wife he had.

OH had a no-meeting-of-minds conversation with his grandfather like that a few years ago, when he was staying with his grandparents in Jerusalem. He was shoving washing in the machine, and his grandfather wandered into the kitchen.

GF - what are you doing?

OH - putting some washing on

GF - how do you know how it works?

OH - they are all pretty much the same, ours at home isn't that different

GF - how does that help?

    OH - eh?

GF - you mean <horror> you WASH YOUR OWN CLOTHES AT HOME?!

    OH - er - yes

    GF - <exits, shaking head in disgust>

Sounds like my ex mother in law.....

My office had got fleas (god knows how) and I had brought them home with me and our house got infested so we had to get the house sprayed. Anyway, when we moved back in (we spent a lovely week in a caravan in my parents garden!) we were all talking in the back garden about having to hoover loads of times a day, the convo went something like this :

MIL : You do realise you have to hoover at least twice a day don't you?

Me: Yep we do know that and we will be taking it in turns to do it

MIL: What? You can't expect (ex OH name) to do it, he works full time!

    Me: Yes so do I

MIL: But his job is more important, he is the man

Me: Erm, not sure I agree there, I am the major wage earner.

MIL: Well he works longer hours

    Me: Erm nope, I do

MIL: Well you just can't expect him to do housework, he is the man of the house.

Me: Well we take it in turns to do household chores, if he gets home first, he cooks dinner and if I get home first (rare), I cook

MIL: What!!! (By this time she had gone a rather funny colour and her fists were clenching) But he is the man, he shouldn't be doing the cooking, he has to go to work and his is more important .

Me - Shrug shoulders and gives up...........

Mind you, she was an absolute star last week in my hour of need with giving me a break from hospital duty.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

You know: you are not at all how I imagined you!

Take care and have a lovely time in Australia. Hope your wife gets better soon (the sunshine might well help;) ).

Wish I could come up and meet you but like Pastures, I suffer from Anxiety Paralysis and would never manage the journey:o .

Will you post from Aus when you get there and at least send us a picture of the sun, please:D

    Good luck for the future.

I'm pretty thick, but rarely get stroppy.

Stop it NDG! You have never struck me as thick at all! And I fear I never suffer fools gladly (:o )

Better than the ex-husband, then? I don't suppose he put in an appearance?

OH and I share. He does almost all the shopping, and we share the cooking. I do the washing and most of the cleaning, he irons. It all works out. I'd certainly not do it all or even most of it - like you, I work as much as OH does. We work pretty similar hours, and earn about the same.

I have the gift of the gab, and a good memory. You can get away with a lot, then!

All these stories of sexist/misogynistic mother in laws really tickle me. If I were married, and mum found out that wifey did all the housework etc she'd play hell with me!

It's a more modern world these days, I'd be more than happy to cook and clean every day (so long as the li'l lady does the ironing :rotfl:) I suppose it's just natural though, having grown up seeing my parents (both of whom worked when we were kids) sharing the load.

I think some of the posters here might actually be my mums age, so it's probably her that got the acid tongue treatment - a lot changes in a generation it seems.
