  • Hi there
Just happen to see your thread, even though I have never been with Saga, they were one of the cheapest quotes I received when I renewed this year, and I am sure you will have replys soon from people who have insurance with them.

We have car insurance with them but thankfully we have never had to make a claim.

    Hopefully will never have to,.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I've just renewed my car insurance (after, obviously, using the comparison sites at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance) and I did also try Saga.

However, they were around twice the price of the best buys on the comparison sites - I've never actually found them very cheap for anything over the years. On this occasion, I ended up with Liverpool Victoria.

And I'm still getting junk mail from Saga from 15 years ago, they never let go!

That has also been my experience - car and travel insurance primarily.

But when I've said this, others have said the excellent service is something they would pay the extra for.
  • Mr too, When iv rung round for quotes they have always been one of the most expensive.
    Check a comp web site

I am insured with Saga and a couple of years ago when someone ran into the back of me they were brilliant. They arranged everything for me over the phone including arranging delivery of a rental car to use while mine was being repaired. They kept me informed every step of the way on what was happening and even managed the legal side (the other driver was uninsured:mad: and I ended up in hospital - thankfully only for a few hours). They might be a little more expensive but for peace of mind I would recomend them!

Have been with them for two years and have never made a claim (fortunately) so unable to say what their accident service is like.

It all depends whether you want cheap insurance or good insurance !

I've made two claims on Saga Travel Insurance, absolutely first class.
It's bad enough if your holiday goes wrong without having to fight with your insurance company afterwards. Am already insured with them again for next year.
  • We have used Saga for car insurance and home insurance for several years now. We find them very good indeed for both. The people on the phone are also first rate.
  • Have been with Saga for several years. My husband recently had to make 2 claims in 3 months. (neither of which were his fault- both happened whilst parked). Found their service was straightforward & staff very helpful. They deal with everything. Organised hired car on both occasions & company rings you so you're not having to keep phoning round. Repairs were sorted out extremely quickly. Only delay was with other ins.co. which did drag claims out for 3 months for both, but Saga did keep you informed, in writing, of the progress. As soon as voluntary excess was collected, we received a cheque back within days.
Have done comparisons with other ins.cos.but what you get as Standard with Saga others charge extra for, so watch out for this, as some ins.co look much cheaper until you start adding up their extras
Hope this helps with your decision & remember as they only insure over 50's you're not caught up with the higher-risk younger drivers
