  • I've used an electronic cigarette for 6 months. They take a little getting used to. I'm convinced I was also addicted to the carbon monoxide poisoning you get from cigarettes as for the first few weeks there is a very slight craving even though you receive nicotine through the ecigarette. Anyway, I use around 4 refills per day which cost around 40 pence each. Only £1.60 per day instead of £6 per day is a great saving.
More to the point though, I feel like I've stopped smoking, I don't stink or cough up junk in the morning and I can already do twice the amount of cardiovascular training in the gym than I used to be able to.
Make sure you buy plenty of spare batteries and atomisers and refills as after a few weeks of using it you will NEVER want to smoke tobacco. It is DISGUSTING!
I am obviously still addicted to nicotine but now I can reduce my intake safe in the knowledge that I'm not currently killing myself.

In the beginning I tried all sorts of different makes and models, probably spent £300 trying them all out. I settled on a type called DSE 901. Its the best all round smoke with good reliability and excellent value refills.

I order mine direct from a website I can't find the ebay seller I used in the beginning. I get outstanding customer service (I do order plenty of refills though!) The batteries and atomisers are guaranteed for 3 months. If anything breaks they send out replacements within 24 hours and wait for me to return the faulty bits. Can't phone for a chat or anything but emails are generally answered within minutes of sending.

The site I used is javaelectronics dot com If you google javaelectronics as all one word they come up.

If I'm honest I was smoking probably 60 a day at one time. This new invention has helped me enormously. I was almost afraid to tell anyone about them in case the government start weighing in with the taxation or something but I guess if it helps people become more healthy and live longer its selfish not to spread the word.

Oh and save loads of money! Which is what I came to this website for in the first place.

Back to the credit card thing then.
    Cheers

    Ches.

Well done Chesney! I wish I'd only spent £300 in my first 6 months, but that's typical me :p

Java Electronics is one of several websites* dedicated to selling only one e-cig model - in this case the DSE901 ("Mini") starter kit with only one battery in it, so you'd have to spend £32 to be kitted out minimally for full-time vaping - £20 starter kit; £8 essential second battery; £4 minimum P&P. You do get 10 carts, which is an extra 5 compared to most kits.

They also do not sell "juices" - with which you can top up your carts and save money. I can recommend umpteen juice sellers, including OK Smokey below, if you're interested. There's a world of weird and wonderful flavours out there.

Whilst writing, here's a good value 510 Titan starter kit from OK Smokey - 3 batteries and 3 atomisers included, plus a couple of mini juices, £45 delivered, it compares very well with other suppliers' offerings and would be very suitable for a newbie (he introduced the offer only minutes too late for ragjoy :( ):

George at OK Smokey has always been very responsive to any problems and his delivery is very fast and he doesn't charge P&P on top of his up-front prices.

*Hardly a "website", it's just a single web page.
  • I have been looking at these for a while now. I have been a stop start smoker for years. Keep quitting then jumping back on them again. I can't help it.... I love a smoke with a pint!!

My only concern is that these are still bad for you and they've been untried and tested (if that makes sense).

There have already been reports into how bad they are (www[dot]timesonline[dot]co[dot]uk/tol/news/uk/health/article4907645[dot]ece) because they still contain nicotine etc... And to be fair, no body thought smoking was gonna cause so many problems when they first arrived, and I don't want to spend a load of money replacing one bad thing with another!!

Call me sceptic.. but hey. That said... what would you say is the best one about? I heard there's nicotine free ones coming out soon (very odd...)

What's the "etc"? It's certainly not the 4000 toxins inherent in and added to tobacco cigarettes.

Is there a reason you haven't supplied a clickable link? Here's one:

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/article4907645.ece

The article is 15 months old and simply says there should be clinical tests done and that Chinese quality control isn't very good. True.

I hadn't heard that, nicotine-free cartridges and liquids have always been available.

Smokers find it difficult to quit not only because they are addicted to nicotine but because they have a treasured hand-to-mouth habit. Electronic cigarettes keep up the hand-to-mouth, as well as providing a satisfying drag of nicotine which can be progressively reduced thru the different strengths of cartridges and liquid refills.

There's a lot of information already painstakingly given in this MSE thread.

And when you've recovered from this one, there's the following:

youzernaim,You are a sceptic ;D there are several reports published on the internet stating that e-cigs are far less harmful than real cigarettes., Check out Dr. Murray Laugesen's report here :-

    http://www.ecigarettedirect.co.uk/extra%20info/e-cigarette-safety-report.pdf

The USA's FDA have recently had their negative decision on e-cigs overruled :-

    http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2010/01/14/Judge-rules-in-favor-of-e-cigarettes/UPI-16691263507624/

Also as Veronarona says,, there has always been an option to use e-cigs without nicotine - or to slowly cut down on the nicotine content so not very odd at all

Yes there are many different models about but I still recommend my all time favourite for beginners - the DSE901. Cheap to buy a starter kit from as little as £20.00 (make sure your starter kit has 2 batteries) plus spares are easy to obtain.

Edit - oops, as you can see I've still not worked out the code for smilies here

Hi, notice many ppl asking questions about these. I do have experience with them and have only used the 1 site for all my purchases. I started and stayed with Totally Wicked eLiquid. I originally bought a Titan Tecc510 over a year ago. Within days I noticed the batterys weren't all that great and it's not hard to understand why with such a small device. Anyway from this I then found on the site a Pcc pack which is basically the size off a 10pack but in it fits a battery, an atomizer and two cartridges. It can be charged overnyt like a mobile and then gives you a fully powered E-nid to use all through out the day. No matter where you are or what your even doing. You can get a kit like this from there at a cost off £50. 1x Set !! And then don't constantly need to be sat be a mains outlet.

The batterys have a designated life span of 2-3months and the atomizers 14-60days. Though when used correctly can go beyond this.

Anyway it's good to have spares as a back up so you don't have to fall back onto cigerettes if one does die on you. These come at a cost off £8 per att and £11 per batt. Though if bought in 5 pieces actually work out as under £5 per att and £7 per batt. I like another guy I see posted on here didn't click with them originally. But having Pneurothorax last Febuary then staying on ciggs and coming down with Tension Pneurothorax this christmas I really had no choice but to move back over to my E-nid as I still found myself craving nicotine. After a week off ciggs then coming back onto the Ecig it was very pleasing. I managed to put together one working model from all the parts I had left since my last Vape. Yet now I'm running out off the juice which when I last bought again was a 30ml/11mg Pg based apple flavoured fluid at a cost off £20 per bottle. Using the E-nid now does mean I'm able to re-enter smoke filled enviroments and also that I don't feel excluded around friends, many off whom do still smoke. That was the biggest worry for me as I saw it only as a matter of time before I cracked yet now I don't get it at all. I simply put my E-cig together and am then more than contempt and happy to still be around these people without needing Tobacco at all.

Anyway, I ordered again from there last night and already today recieved an email confirming the new goods are on the way.

This time... and this is all new since I was last there, I've ordered 1x30ml/54mg Platninum Juice and 1x50mlAg dillutant. These cost me £30 together and once flavours are added should see me with 3x30ml18mg strenth juices at a cost off £10 per bottle. With that I also ordered 5xAtts and 5xBatts. So the way I see it at a further cost now off £90(all together). I should have enough juice and euipment to last me for the next 6-10 months. Which value wise works out to be £15permonth exluding the bits I already owned. (Pcc kit and cartridges)

For a beginner you'd also need some refillable cartridges which can be cleaned and re-used to extend the life of them. And I think that covers everything, except flavours. Which I also have left over from last time. Lorann were what I got though they now seem to do different ones and if anything that's where I'd look at maybe finding an alternate source.

Basically these things do cover a wide audience as once you sorted on where you want to end. You can tailor the flavour and strength anywhere from 0mg and all the way upto 54mg. Not recommended even for the heaviest of smokers !! I've serached many boards and forums and also delved into as much research as I can. Vg looks to be a safer alternative to Pg. And mixed with Ag should dilute down to a perfect consistancy. Also for the Vapers that like to think they are still smoking. Vg produces a lot more vapour so even people who don't realise it's an E-nid would likely to think your actually smoking. Which you are not. My friends think its great and I do have a couple who have watched me and are very interested. Health wise its a must do alternative to normal smoking.

Did you know ? Combustion. Which is also reffered to as anolougue or cigerettes burn in excess of 200+degrees which is mainly what see's the extra 4000+ naughties introduced.

Whereas Digital or Vaping burns in the regeion of 100degress. Which says a lot in itself. Also the cartridges contain basically no more than alcohol and nicotine and can obviously can be tailored by the user to suit themselves. Whereas the alternate don't quite have that option.

This Promo code will offer you a futher 7.5% off all goods at the Totally Wicked eliquid checkout too : DA563

The main thing that keeps me with Totally Wicked is that they say they searched over 30 different companies for the best juice available and so that for me says it should also be Top Quality goods. :T
Hope this helps any confusions. I've been vaping non stop for 1month. And am never switching back :rotfl::j:rotfl:
