Ragjoy, I completely agree with Veronarona, go with a mini DSE901 kit (or 2) to start with they are reasonably cheap & so easy to find spares/accessories for.

hi i just had another look and im thinking these carts seem more expensive than tobacco (i know thats not the point its about getting of the ciggies).
im wondering do i use the liquid with my 5 included carts?
do the carts last long this way?
    is this method much cheaper?
is this as good as carts?

Hi Ragjoy, you can refill the carts with e-liquid - it works out so much cheaper than buying prefilled carts.

A 30ml bottle of e-liquid lasts me approximately 1 month (I used to be a very heavy smoker so I do now vape a lot). You can buy 30ml's of juice for about £13.00 (cheaper still when buying in bulk from some sellers) :)

Edit, meant to say that buying e-liquid (apart from being cheaper) IS so much better than buying prefilled carts - so many different flavours to choose from. Plus you can go for a high nicotine content & dilute it with glycerine - this not only makes the e-liquid (juice) go further but creates an even better vapour :)

I have given up smoking, so I do have some sympathy, but I wonder whether giving someone the means to be puffing away 24/7 rather than, say 3 hourly, is actually completely counterproductive, as when they are in a situation where they can smoke freely, they are so used to having a fake fag in their mouth that they smoke even more?

I thought that once the first couple of days of nicotine based symptoms were dealt with, that the rest was behavioural - which is why it was possible to start smoking again at a later date?
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

  • I was on 50-60 Golden Virginia per day, I'd smoked for 50 years

When I started I didn't know about juices and I bought lots of carts, mostly High nic content which was about 16-18mg. 36mg may make you dizzy, you could get 24mg and add a drop of glycerine - £1-ish for 100ml in your chemist, or you can get it from the baking aids in the supermarket - to dilute both the strength and the cost ;)

If you get 2 starter kits like I suggested you will have enough hardware to really get you going, including the ability to charge more than one battery at a time. It probably works out cheaper that way. The cartridges ("carts") are also reusable mouthpieces when the stuffing is used up, and you can buy Fluval fish tank filter (eg, from eBay)and cut up your own stuffing...

But all that's not necessary at the moment - get a couple of starter kits, a bottle of juice and maybe some glycerine, and GET STARTED. Keep an open mind and you'll gradually discover the way to go for your own needs.

  • Lol, I typed out a reply to ragjoy but couldn't post it due to a power cut :o Power now back on & even though Veronarona has kindly replied I'm going to C&P my reply ;D

If you buy from a good seller you will get two batteries with the starter kit - this is essential as you need the spare battery while the other is on charge. (sadly some sellers make their starter kits appear cheaper by only supplying one battery - IMHO that makes the starter kit as useful as a chocolate Tea pot!)

As Veronarona says, it works out cheaper to buy 2 starter kits than all the spares seperately. However, if you are looking for a minimum spend to begin with just to see how you get on with the e-cig - go for a starter kit with 2 batteries (can be bought for approx £25.00) plus a bottle of e-liquid (juice) & yes a spare atomiser - though not essential to begin with you will need it at some point.

No need for any blank carts at this point as you can refill the carts with the juice.

As you are a 35 a day smoker I would recommend either 24mg or 36mg juice - if you find it is too strong for you, it can be cut with glycerine. You can buy a small bottle of glycerine from most supermarkets (in the baking section, next to the food flavourings) for about 45p or a large 100ml bottle from a chemist for about £1.00.

As for which flavour e-liquid to go for -that isn't an easy one to suggest as it is all a matter of taste. Hand on heart - there isn't an e-liquid (yet) that tastes exactly the same as a real cigarette. However, many people end up preffering all the different different juice flavours to the taste of real cigs. My favourites are Hilton, State Express (tobacco flavour with a peanutty taste) Black Tea (very dry) & surprisingly Cream flavour. Others have ended up loving the fruity flavours or chocolate/coffee for instance - sorry I know non of that is much help but it really is a matter of taste :)
  • Apologies Jojo, I wasn't ignoring you - just missed your post.

I for one don't vape 24/7 in fact I most likely vape less often than I used to smoke.

For some people it may be easy once the nicotine & all the other thousands of chemicals in real cigs are out of their system to then deal with the "behavioural" addiction but for others it isn't easy - hence why so many people fail at giving up smoking.

    thanks veronarona,
i dont quite get the idea of 2 kits,
one kit has 2 battery's,but only one atomiser,is it not better to just get an extra atomiser?
sorry for the questions and contradictions.
    ragjoy.............
  • If you don't want to spend the money to get 2 kits, just get one. Just get started.

I've suggested getting 2 starter kits because I know you will be better supplied - 4 batteries, 2 chargers and 2 atomisers will keep you much "safer".

    But just get started.
