Would anyone suggest e-cigs to somebody who gave up smoking years ago, but still craves something in the mouth (pen chewing, sweets etc) I suffer with stress too, and find deep breathing helps the stress, but OH is VERY anti smoking and hates the idea of me taking up e cigs
You can use 0 nic juice! Part of giving up smoking isn't just the addiction to the chemicals but the hand to mouth thing!
Not sure that I'd recommend it as such, but if you feel that you're going to go back to the ciggies then, yes, go for it, give vaping a try!0 -
Karmacookie is right. If you can manage without anything it's best. But if you are struggling badly, then do try an e-cig with 0 nic juice.0

Hi I am looking for a starter kit (nicotine free). I have given up smoking roll ups after 20 years on 2nd Jan but already I am desperate when in the pub etc and I am thinking that a nicotine free e-cig may save me from myself in spring/summer pub gardens and festivals....However the more I read about it the more confused Im getting!Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Cigarettes should be banned, but it makes huge and huge profit, so it's more like

Long time no post, in this thread.
Guys, I got my first ecig on April 11th 2012 and have not bought tobacco or inhaled even one drag of tobacco smoke since that day.
Switching to the ecig has been very easy.
Patches don't work, the chewing gum doesn't work, lozenges don't work and those disgusting raw nicotine inhalers that make you cough don't work. The ecig is the only working option that I have found.
Which is funny because they claim it is not an NRT when it bloody well is, its the ONLY thing that works as a substitute to smoking, in my case.
So its been over 11 months now.
As I have learned whats what I have ended up with the creme de la creme of ecigs.
First one I bought on April 11th - called a "Fog 10 Ego" tank kit from simplyeliquid. It was £40. Batteries were alright, but the tank system ("Type B" tank) leaked about 1ml every night. Well I wasn't going to put up with that.
Next I bought a Phiniac tank from the US (based on recommendations and a lot of researching). So I had a big fat tank on a thin Ego battery, it looked ridiculous.
Thinking a fat tube one would be better I then got a "Lavatube Mini" but it was total rubbish, the button started to misfire after 2 months and the batteries only seemed to last at full power for 10 minutes then you got about 4 hours of thin wispy vapor. Although I did accidentally charge them on 3.0v about 4 or 5 times (accidentally flicked the switch on the charger, should be on 4.2v) so maybe that killed the batteries. This stupid Lavatube nearly had me going back to smoking.
Then I after saving money from not smoking I thought "Right, I am just going to get the best one possible" and I got a Provari. This thing ended up costing about £200 (crazy for a tube, right?) and it has been a godsend. The 18650 battery lasts 2 or 3 days @ 4.4v and the device gives you the exact same voltage output all the way to the end of the battery, it is an incredible ecig, but yes, at an insane price. The thing is I would have paid £500 for it, I just cannot smoke ever again, that is imperative.
Well, when you lay out £200 on the ecig and about £50 on its tank you're looking at £250 for an ecig. Sounds crazy but it was all money I had saved from not smoking.
How did I save so much... well I got my vaping bill down to about £2.50 a week (juice and cartomizers) by buying it from China as DIY juice and always choose the slow "China Post" option. This way, you can get what amounts to 205ml of juice and a pack of 10 cartos for £35-£40 delivered. That my friends works out to just over £5 for 30ml and it lasts about 2 weeks - hence £2.50 a week with cartos and postage all included. I was previously spending about £20 a week smoking.
My last order was...
3 x 30ml double flavour Cuba cigar @ 18mg
1 x 30ml double flavour cherry @ 18mg
1 x 115mg 75PG/25VG base liquid (flavourless) @ 18mg
So I am mixing 120ml of double flavoured into 115ml of unflavoured to make it all normal. Ends up being 235ml of juice, which lasts for months. I only vape 2ml-3ml a day so I can make that last about 3 months plus and it only cost me about £35-£40 for it.
Bottom line: done this way it is vastly cheaper than smoking.
In my case 8 times cheaper and I am not killing myself. My father died of lung cancer in September last year after 40 years of smoking not being able to quit. He did quit about a year before he died but it was too late. 40 years too late if you ask me.0 -
I've tried a few different brands and have yet to find one that doesn't make me immediately crave a real cigarette. Main problem I've found is that they can be a bit weak in giving the nicotine sensation. My friend had one once that I thought was really good, unfortunately neither of us could remember the name or where he got it! He insists Tesco but I've been there and asked and they said they don't sell them. May just be that one particular branch...0
