  • I've gone ahead and ordered a '510' starter kit from a company called ELiquid - recommended by a friend of my dad's. That and a 30ml bottle of ELiquid or 'juice' came in at less than £20 delivered (£10ish for the kit, £7ish for the juic and £2 delivery) - worth a punt I reckon?!

I'll let you know how I get on as I'm heading straight in to nicotine free; in for a penny, in for a pound I say. I'm already more conscious of when I'm stepping out for a ciggie since I ordered it, and that in itself has meant I've smoked about half as much as I would usually.
    I save, therefore I am...
  • Sounds like a good price and a 510 connection is the most common, so easy to get cheap spares!

Good luck going nic free, if you do find it too difficult you could always buy some e-juice with nic in just to use in those times that you're struggling :)

    Well done you scrimpette :)

My GP wants me off the e-cig by the end of the year save for sos.... and deffo nic free....so here's working at it :) I've been on it 18 months (in march) so the time feels right.....

I showed her my silver bullet (£100) with taifun (£80 but cheap to run) on top. She said it looked like something you'd whack someone with.... I said 'yeah that'd be fab in the papers...GP assaults hubby with e-cig'

If you are a newbie these costings may sound extortionate and not very MSE but I'm debt free and I've bought them with the monies I've saved by not smoking. When I started on the e-cig I could only afford a £20-30 kit so that's what I bought and pretty early on someone directed me to Karma's friendly forum and I started self mixing which is okay... so that saved money. :D

Am a member on AAEC, UKVapers and another little site called Planetofthevapes - http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/forums/forum.php

At the mo I've been off the ciggies since November, and would definitely recommend one of the forums for more help and advice - especially the 'where do i go next from cig-a-likes' question which will pop up!

I also posted the ecigwizard link which, as far as I am aware, still do some good value kits.

When you start it does seem a lot to pay out, but think - 'How much have I spent on cigarettes this week? How much will I spend this month? How much will this save me long-term?'

I'm still amazed what ecigs can do for a hardened smoker, so many people have just quit straight away using them.

These things should be shouted from the rooftops as a life saving device. Instead, we get silly scare stories from people who really ought to know better and the EU wanting to ban them.
Whilst leaving normal cigarettes for sale! It would be difficult to make it up.

I know they saved my health, I couldn't stop smoking, my health was deteriorating, my breathing laboured.
Now that's all changed and only because of ecigs. To me they have been a miracle, the problem is they are still irrevocably linked to smoking for alot of people, because of the form of some of them and the "smoke" (actually water vapour) that comes from them.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

    Thanks
  • It's much easier to advise you on a dedicated e-cig forum Khal.

We have vendor lists and lists of discount codes which we can't post in this thread, also we have a lot of members who will be keen to help you and share their e-cig experiences

I'm with karma on this - get over to AAEC for specific and friendly vaping advice and chat. 3.5 months for me having my last stinky and starting vaping , and love all the benefits vaping brings over smoking tobacco :):D

Those Halo cartridges are a bit expensive :(

yes, but can be refilled...I use a Halo when driving as it's less cumbersome than a tank, and you can lip-dangle it if you need to do a 3-point turn ;)

  • Soooo, my kit came and I charged it, and filled it with nic free apple liquid (a bit fiddly and leaky until I sussed the right level) and off I vaped... for about a day and a half with NO ciggies at all.
I haven't used my ecig for 3 days and haven't smoked a proper one since it arrived on my doorstep!
I can't explain the process, it was obviously just the right time for me, but I just couldn't be ar*ed with the faffing and just went without.
It's not a bad little kit although the battery life wasn't great (I'd buy a couple of spares if I was going to go back to using it), the amount of vapour was good once the full level was right - I just couldn't be bothered in the end. I've even faced the test of a few vinos whilst out for dinner on Friday evening and not a puff! So chuffed :T
