I think it partially depends on how much you smoke per day. Originally I had the Ego-T which I found to be big and clunky. I much prefer the Ego-510 which is much thinner.
As a bit of a jargon buster, ecigs come in many varieties:
Cartridges come preloaded with nicotine in varying strengths (some people suggest starting quite high and reducing it- as a 20 a day roll-up smoker, 12mg was too light for me). I don't think these are very economical.
Tanks are filled with 'juice' or the 'nicotine liquid' (again in varying strengths) which you fill as needed and plug into the ecig.
Cartomisers are also filled with 'juice'. The big difference between these and tanks is that the heating element and the tank are one and the same. With tanks, you have 'atomisers' which are the heating element and these wear out pretty fast and I've not yet found a decent way to clean them. At about £5 a go for an atomiser which maybe lasts 10 days, or £7 for five cartomisers which lasts maybe 5 weeks, I know which I would go for!
If you were going to buy one, I would suggest making your own. These kits you can buy work out pretty expensive. For a real newbie, I'd suggest a 510 battery (or two), a pack of standard resistance cartomisers, a drip tip (mouth piece), a bottle of 'juice' in a flavour you fancy, and the appropriate charger.
I'm using mine to cut down on the cigs and it is really, really helping. There's lots of advice out there on respective forums (Google e-cigarette forum and you'll find a few). I have my preferred vendor too but I wont mention them by name because I'm not going to spam.
Generally, if you're going to buy one, do a LOT of Googling first! I wouldn't buy from a website that only sells one type/brand of these things. When I first started, I telephone a supplier for their recommendations (and to check that they were legit!) and they were a big help. There are plenty of UK suppliers out there and they WILL speak to you on the phone and guide your through this.
On the whole, starting using e-cigs was the best things I did. I would wholeheartedly recommend it but you've got to be patient with yourself. A really big factor is believing that they will make a difference. If you're a total sceptic, just don't bother! You wont like them! If you're looking for a genuine alternative to smoking, these really could be for you. In the past, I've tried all sorts to keep me off the fags- gum made me sick, patches gave me horrendous nightmares, the inhalator looked like something a lady would use once a month and was, frankly, useless! I was dubious about the pills to help you stop and this seemed like my last viable option. Doctors and nurses have been pleased that I've cut down and aren't in the least hesitant that it's an e-cig that's helping me. It looks and in many ways feels like smoking- there's vapour and a 'throat hit' which you just don't get with other oral fixations for quitters.
Honestly, the best advice I can give is to shop around, look on forums and be positive about the experience an e-cig will give you!0 -
there is a wealth of information for everyone trying to stop smoking, on forums which have been set-up by volunteers, who devote their own time in steering you to good, trusted vendors.
Hints, tips, info and classified ads with good deals.
There are many UK forums. allaboute-cigarettes is the best, IMO. But also ukvapers. though the latter is larger and not as friendly.
Both are free to join and receive no money or charge anything to join.
Just friendly folks trying to pass on tips and tricks, and ideas that helped them stop smoking.0 -
Hi all,
Really want to get rid of the smelly foul rollies so would appreciate your opinions on E-Lites. They are sold locally so would seem to be my easiest way to top up when it runs out.
I smoke around 20 a day and need the hit of a real cig without the nasties. Are they really expensive compared to the refillable cartridges? Any other technical drawbacks like poor battery life or leaks?
All advice gratefully recieved
ThanksIn deep...0 -
By the way, what's your opinion on this?

If you smoke around 20 a day e-lites are not for you trust me, you would be better off with this kit but 2 batteries & about 18mg juice.
