I have been looking at https://www.nuglasses.co.uk site and thinking of giving them a try. They seem to be a new company. Their glasses look good and the online try on feature is great, but has anybody used them?0

I'm very new to specs - 2 days since I got the cheapest pair from Tesco opticians.
And I've gone through just about every online glasses site recommended in this brilliant thread.
Can any professional glasses wearer tell me if it is at all possible to get folding glasses that can have different settings for each lens? Or is it solely for ready made reading glasses?
I notice that you can get some really compact reading glasses e.g. the Cinzia Twisties where the arms become the case, but I really ought to stick to my prescription.
Cheers

I looked at the Spex4less site and found it very confusing, with things flying all over the place.
Plus, there's a really cheesy bit of video that was such a big file it locked out my browser.
The glasses looked cheap and there were also some designer frames available. I'm thinking of buying
a spare pair of glasses to leave in the car, but I wouldn't buy more expensive frames from them.
I think these online guys should stick to the cheap stuff. It's like the difference between flying 'budget airline' and first class... You expect cheap and cheerful with one, but if you wanted to treat yourself, I'd
rather go to the local eyewer studio, like flying with BA insteas of ....Jet or ...air at least you can get a decent cup of coffee as part of the deal. Another thing, why is their only a couple of online suppliers had the brains to keep all the type big enough so folk with poor vision can see it. Nice one wwwGlasses Direct.com and https://www.seymourspecs.co.uk0 -

I agree with you about the stuff flying all over the place! Very off-putting. Budget specs should be flogged on a budget site without any gimmics or frills. It should also be easy to navigate around without too many distractions. And above all - you should be able to buy your specs (or 'widgets' if that's what you're after!!!) in no more than three steps or so.0 -
I finally took the plunge (see my earlier post) and ordered a pair of glasses online from https://www.nuglasses.co.uk and I'm pleased to say they are brilliant. Their nuYou virtual mirror was great, uploaded my photo and tried them all on. Staff were very helpful to, and I was able to talk to someone on a Sunday, which to me is a great benefit because with my job sometimes it's difficult to call during normal business hours. I'm impressed and can recommend them.0

Fine service. I had to guess my pupillary distance, however, as Specsavers would not give me the measurement. They said they were not legally obliged to do so. It is not part of the prescription. I really argued it out but to no avail.0

I have very weak eyesight (-7). Can anyone tell recommend an online retailer who would deal with this and make them thinner? Spexmanic have 1.6 index thin as standard- is this good? Thank you.July Win: Nokia 58000

1.6 is good, it's what I usually pay a fortune for at the local opticians, 1.67 is better, but an extra £50 I think.
I am -6.5 and am going to go for the 1.6 from spexmaniac - its an amazing price and well worth it.0 -
Thanks for the advice! I was actually going to go with specsmaniac, but I don't have my PD. I really argued with Boots but they steadfastly refused to give it to me. Sheffield isn't that far from me so I'm going to pop in and try before I buy. (They are open Sundays
