And I do need varifocals! I don't think I would be happy buying these over the Internet.0

However I have had awful problems. The glasses eventually arrived looking wonkey and didn't sit properly on my face and badly made. I sent them back and they came back (eventually!) OK. Until they fell apart after a few wears. I sent them to Oakley this time and they told me that the glasses had not been manufactured properly. Oakley sent them to site91 and I am still waiting for the glasses to come back to me after Site91 fixed then broke the lenses in two!
I have never had such appalling customer service, poor quality glasses and been fobbed off so badly.
Avoid this company and enjoy dicounts for online glasses elsewhere.
Anyone who has problems with our service should contact mike@winegum.com and all issues with be dealt with within 48 hours.

One great benefit of https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk over other sites is that you can try the frames out for a small charge. I ordered a trial pair on Thursday an dthey had arrived by Saturday!0

Another benefit of https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk is that when I made an error in my prescription they took my glasses back and put completely new lenses in them at not charge to me even though the error was on my part when ordering them (All I had to do was enclose a written copy of my prescription from my optician and then pay for postage for the glasses to get to them - which I wouldn't expect them to pay as it was my error).
This company is a bit dearer than some others for rimless specs but they fixed mine for nought when I had a problem.0 -
Hi, I'm new to glasses wearing (just got diagnosed as being short sighted this morning) and rushed out this afternoon to buy 2 pairs of glasses from Specsavers for £167. After reading this thread, I think I may have been silly...My prescription is simple (-0.50) and I remembered my PD so I think buying online might be a good idea.
Does anyone know what Specsavers' cancellation/returns policies would likely to be? I've looked on their website but there's no information there.
Any advice appreciated.0 -
I've always been a little sceptical about buying something like glasses from a website. I've worn glasses ever since I was 10 and my optician (who I have know for over 20 years) moans when I walk in as it's usually been 3-4 years since my last pair and it takes me numerous visits and about 2 months before I can choose a new frame...
But last weekend the side-arm on my rimless pair snapped off...and the only other pair I had were my prescription sunglasses. I had an eye-test (luckily my prescription has hardly changed), researched MSE and ordered a pair from DesignerGlasses late Thursday afternoon. They were fantastic; not only did they get the glasses made up asap but they shipped it Recorded Delivery to have a better chance of my getting the glasses before the Bank Holiday.
I got them first thing this morning; they fit perfectly, look fantastic and they were 25 pounds all in...it would have cost me 2 to 3 times that for a dodgy looking pair from the high street.
If you've got an up-to-date prescription and know all your optical measurements, this is a great way of getting your glasses...and cheaper too!
Thanks also to you folks on MSE esp. donnabythegreen for her recommendation of DesignerGlasses.:A0 -
Cheap replacement glasses AND your family and friends can claim on your policy!
I've recently found the following site:
http://harrisdyslexia.com/Replacement%20scheme.htm
How does it work?
For an annual joining fee of 59.00 (or 1.17 per week by standing order) you can make UNLIMITED claims for your own replacement spectacles, and up to 3 claims per year can be made for any of your spectacle wearing family and friends, for just 45.00 per claim (standard frames).
This scheme was originally developed to help dyslexia sufferers - see https://www.harrisdyslexia.com but is now open to all.

hi LG, you need a pretty cast iron excuse for getting a refund on your glasses, as in the frames or lenses being defective and then they would always be more likely to want to replace them for you rather than giving you a refund. If you wanted to pursue this, you would have to take it up with the manager of the individual practice you went to.0

I ordered from glassesdirect.co.uk a few weeks ago. I was happy with the service (getting 5% also) and the glasses arrived a few days later. I realised straight away that the prescription was not quite right and had them checked at my high street optician who confirmed this. i contact glassesdirect who sent me a out a prepaid enveolpe into which I had to put my glasses and send them back for correction. I did this, and a week later I have the glasses back, corrected. No problems at all. I reckon mistakes happen with lenses and I am very happy with the customer service. My glasses cots me £16.66. I would definitely buy from there again (although the range is somewhat limited at this price).0

Specsavers have a "no quibble" refund policy so in principle you can get a refund but would have to talk to the individual store about this.0
