Just did the free eye test with DH at Tesco's (it's still on btw)- no extra charges for the 'puff of air' into the eyes, and we ordered our designer glasses on the spot. Thought it would be risky as we should have priced compared with the net providers but it turns out we may have saved small pennies rather than pounds due to the BOGOF for glasses over £75. (And I can't find the glasses I chose on any of the sites recommended as yet) Got sunnies and regular glasses and may have been tempted by the £40 range if I hadn't needed the sunnies too so rather pleased with ourselves. We wait to see how the glasses turn out..... :cheesy:0

dont hold your breath on them from tescos as speaking from experiance here. mine came back and i couldnt see out of them and the lense didnt fit correctly in the frame either. Such a stroppy manageress at the Pitsea branch that i gave up in the end and opted for a re test at specsavers and bought online with posheyes.co.ukIf You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0 -

The "puff in the eyes" is part of the standard eye test. This is to test the pressure in your eye in case it is raised, thereby indicating the possibility of glaucoma.
Thanks for letting me know Steve, I think I read somewhere above in the thread that someone got charged more money for this part of the test but have probably got that wrong. Good to know why they do it though!0 -

Hi
I bought some varifocals online, the frame came after two weeks and I was told to take a photo with them on and email it to them, and send the frame back. The glasses then came after ten days and I couldn't see through them so had them checked at a local optician and found they had put in the wrong prescription. Sent them back and the lenses were changed. They came back after another week and were still wrong. I have been to another optician and told that the lenses have been fitted wrongly again. The company will not give me a refund and said to send them back again. Can I claim a refund from my credit card since I paid for them using it and they cost £220 as I need my glasses and think I will be better off getting them from a local optician now. I am on on benefits due to disability but am not entitled to help with glasses from the government as I get maintenance from ex husband.0
