  • I don't know but it's less than the smallest of the two sizes most opticians keep!

If you have an English pair of glasses, have a look on the inside of one of the arms and there should be 3 sets of figures there, the smallest will be the bridge width
  • One pair has C06 49 20. Another has 2103 614 5 17. And both are a bad fit!!

The measurements will be written on the arm, or side as it's more accurately called. You can see what the measurements mean here .,,edit..,,
you can measure your current specs to give you an idea.

This link above may help . I would suspect one is the frame design number and the other the frame measurement. My frame measurements are shown as 51/18/135 ie lens/bridge/arm, You could always measure the bridge on one of your 'best fit' pair
  • Just remembered my prescription sunglasses (well we don't need them here much do we?!) and they are quite a good fit. The smallest number on them is 17 so I guess that's nearest to the bridge I need. (53/17/140 on the arm) I may trawl round the online sites and just see what bridge sizes they can offer. Thanks!

Sorry to disappoint, but frame size measurements are not a good indicator to fit. The only way is to try them on 1st and see if they can be adjusted to fit better.

Thant's also true when you're looking for a style of frame that suits you, but you've got to start somewhere. And if OP can find a frame with a similar bridge size on internet then at least it's a step forward for her.
When I'm looking for new spex I always visit optician's to check out new styles and frame measurements then check prices on the internet for similar styles. A lot of people are unaware that their frames show any measurements at all

Yes, the overall balance is important. I have been advised that the small bridge is best for me, but even then there are problems. With a very small bridge and the lenses coming right up to the nose, the eyes can look even closer together!

I'm after some Paul Simon glasses. Quoted £300 in Vision Express! Tried to use the online retailers that sell designer glasses, but they don't stock Paul Simon. Any idea who else might?

i went to the institute of optometry in April and had an eye test.

Went to D&A last week and the two prescriptions are a bit different so i'm confused, i decided that as i come under complex eyesight i shouln't try to buy online, cilary blue only go upto -8 and posh eyes upto -10.

my institute of optometry prescription is -10 in both eyes so i could just about buy from posh eyes, but the D&A prescription is -10.25 and -10.50 as well as the axis and cyl values being different.

Now i don't know which prescription to use...any advice please?
