As a broker I've met many Turks and Asians that run shops, and some make a lot of money.
Madrabbit minds me of the many white middle class types that have a completely false self status image. You can tell them on these forums as they say things like - "Im a professional on £70k pa so Im officially in the highest 2% of national earners" - !!!!! Little do they know many of my quiet shop keepers earn hugely more than this but of course thier Accountants are good at keeping official net icnomes as low as possible.
Some are telling me its harder now Tescos have opened metro units.
One I know makes £13000 per week turnover selling home made pizzas, fried chicken and believe it or not Indian food from his takeaway.
I often think the white middle classes do not interact with the many Asian business owners out there. You here them making assumptions that owning a shop is somehow of lesser status than being some pleb employed solicitor.
A 20 year study of Americas millionaires (thats true muillionaires - not flashy wage slaves with low assets / high incomes) as outlined in the book "The Millionaire Next Door" revealed 80% were self employed (usually shops owners, garage owners and other mundane business types), and 70% were immigrants to the US.
One critiscism I would have of the Asians I have met is they ALL had this unshakable belief property only goes up and pensions are for fools.0 -
suddenly having rich stupid friends to buy your flats who went to Uni with you yet you run a corner shop?)
Blimey, and I thought Americans were naeve knee jerk red necks.
What does your choice of language seek to imply here?
You do realise many of those humble shop keepers own multiple properties and have a business of some value. What do you have? Let me guess, youre an employed wage slave working for another Human - great0 -

Or do you really believe this bogoted, generalised claptrap with racist undertones you post?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

So I remind you of a white middle class type from my comments; well the OP comes across to me as somebody making it up as we go along. Somebody suggests they see a sols, hey presto they already have an appointment for next week, somebody says try to sell the flats, the OP claims to already be trying to do that. This whole thread seems to have something for everybody, its just too good to be true hence why I believe the OP is a troll.
This so call humble shop keeper owns (or is contracted to own) mulitple properties and has a business of some value (although he has had to lay off staff) yet the business doesn't provide the income to service the debts used to buy these properties.
And then you go on to imply most Asian shop keepers are inventive with their tax - but the white middle class type don't know this :rotfl: .
I love it.
By the way which would you rather be? A wage slave earning a reasonable amount doing 40 hours a week, or somebody running their own business earning more but having to do 80 or 100 hours a week. Without the wage slave you wouldn't have business men or women, without the business men or women there wouldn't be anywhere for the wage slaves to work.
And I don't think there is anything wrong with owning a shop, I just thought it was odd that a uni graduate would own and run a corner shop just a few years after graduating, and the OP asked what posts made me supicious so I picked that one and the one that seems to contradict it.0 -

Sorry no offence to Solicitors (I'm only jealous as Im a pleeby broker with no professional status). The point of my jibe was in response to a lot of middle class professional chit chat I hear in my own village and on forums, where people have a misplaced sense of social standing, based largely on how much they earn comparitevly.
A commonly held view is that shop keepers and other non professionals are assumed to earn less than say your employed solicitor and this I think stems in part from official stats based on official tax return info, which are not anything like a true picture of many individuals income and certainly no reflection of assets.
Furthermore, Governments rely on census forms to determine national incomes, yet for sure the sorts of people I deal with never fill these in or if they do they put thier income as low as possible as they are scared Big Brother may be watching even though the census is framed as anonymous.
This info often appears in the media and again is totaly misleading.
So next time your in a corner shop or restaurant dont make an assumption the owner has a poor life. Its quite likely they owbn a string of properties and have other business interests.0 -

The troll conspiracy musings I read daily on forums carry as much weight as all other conspiracy theories.
You can be a graduate and own a corner shop. You can have a few properties and now struggle in tougher times, indeed you might even have wealthy freinds!
And guess what, you can be a black cabbie and win Mastermind, really you can0 -
No offence taken.
I can confirm on behalf of all plebby employed solicitors that we don't earn as much people seem to think.0 -

Ha! I was trying to point out owning a corner shop carries just as much social and status weight as being a professional, and thats racist. Got me there m8:rolleyes:0 -

Surely not Sherlock.
You mean to say the OP must be a troll because, wait for it............ he happened to have already tried to sell the flats prior to some stranger on a forum posting the idea, noooooo
