If it was bought off plan then I think the solicitor would have been negligent in not advising OP of the risks of exchanging contracts with no certain mortgage offer in place. He should have been told that market conditions could change and lenders' attitudes could change in the period up to the practical completion of the flat.
NOthing of the sort was told. He was recommended by the property club. Thats where i messed up. Seeing an independent on Wednesday, seems like a few cracks are beginning to open.0 -

If asking advice is whingeing then one of us is in the wrong place. Thanks anyway.0 -
Listen buddy I've two words for you, Tough tittyKrusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:
"Buy now because house prices only ever go UP, UP, UP."0 -
Heh amitabh1,
Don't worry about the jibes from those suffering from deep rooted jealousy brought about by their own inability to make something of their own lives.
Yes, you have managed to get yourself into a bit of a mess that is going to cost you. I would urge you not to lose the desire to progress, learn from your mistakes and go on to better things.
Meanwhile those throwing the abuse around will still be on here getting their kicks out of abusing those that are prepared to give it a go. Why, because they are not capable of anything else.
Take some satisfaction from the thought that even with your challanges you are likely to be in a better position than those not able to rise above cheap insults.0 -

Yeah, I'm so jealous that I never bought a load of rip-off, off-plan, over-priced new build flats. :rotfl:
Sorry, did I not explain myself very well, or is it another symptom of your inability to understand?
I meant jealous that you lack the drive, ambition, enthusiasm and ability to do anything with your life, other than take pleasure in insulting others.0 -
Totally agree. Goodness gracious, I have made loads of mistakes in my life but boy have I had a lot of experiences. Written off at uni, had to drop out at 19 due to illness and offered lifetime disability. Fought back, got a job as a cleaner, in 8 years became a sales director for a sucessful company. Flown half way around the world a number of times, ran my own business. Man I took chances and not exactly rich now but won a few, lost a few. Memories to be cherished. Living a dream is some thing else. May not end up as the richest guy in the grave yard but can`t see the point of that.0

How can gambiling vast amounts of money... be a good way to better yourself?
Seriously... its like putting all your money and future money on black at roulette.
Some people on here sold there homes 1-2 years ago.. because they saw this coming... so i can't believe 100% everyone were brainwashed into this.
And OP... I do hope you find a way out... for your familys sake, but you cant expect everyone to be on your side... when your strategy to make an easier life would screw less fortunate people out of owning their own home.
Still the market went bust and theres winners and losers... you are heading for a 'loser' at the moment, but you can mitigate this lose hopefully.0 -
Napoleon, I hear what you are saying and maybe you and I didn`t do the same as the Op. OK he got it wrong and my guess is, and I know a couple of them myself, is that 10`s of thousands have done the same. What ever the morality issues , the guy has come here, in a humble fashion, and has asked for advice. OK he got it wrong. You have never got it wrong? I have many times. Times have changed for all of us.0
