oasis concert: greedy ticket touts at it again

I dont believe it...well i do actually.I tried to get 2 tickets for the forthcoming Oasis concert at the Stadium of Light dot on 10am this morning..but no. seems even waiting at your computer, left click at the ready, is still not quick enough.
But, it seems, that the ticket touts are quick enough. As it became apparent that i wasnt going to get any tickets, i ventured across to the only place where they were going to be available. yes, youve guessed it - ebay. Not 10 minutes had passed since the tickets officialy went on sale, and sure enough, there were plenty to choose from. one listing had been on only 30 minutes and had already attracted 16 bids, pushing the price to well over 200 quid.
Seems funny so many people can buy tickets and suddenly decide they dont want them, only to make a huge profit on them.It really boils my p**s. It is THE definition of greed. and it still baffles me how they can trample all over genuine people in the race to get the tickets first. why is it that those who have no intention of going to a concert always get the tickets? maybe im going about this all wrong, maybe i should have sat at the computer screen this morning and just pretended i didnt want to go, then i would have ended up with two! As usual, ebay are aware of this 'epidemic' yet will do sweet F.A. about it.
While I have nothing against selling the tickets on if you dont want them, or cant get there for some reason, I object strongly to the fat, greedy, gloating hungry hippos that snatch all they can get for sole purpose of ripping off genuine fans. It is something the music industry and ebay need to look at. I know how the people of MSE feel about this therefore i urge every one of you to report these listings whenever you come across them.
They dont just stop at concert tickets, though. Noooooooo. remember the release of the Nintendo Wii? the Pink Nintendo DS? the Playstation 3? All ended up on ebay for near 3 times their original price. Pretty much everything that is in demand now is only available on ebay. what started out as an ideal place to sell your bits and pieces, has now turned into a vultures paradise and a blacker-than-black market.
However, From a different perspective, this 'industry' only exists because of the desperate people that fund it. and i make no apology for calling them 'desperate'. they are. they are the parents, desperately trying to get hold of a Wii for the kids in time for christmas. they are the desperate fans, like myself, just trying to get a concert ticket.
I may be desperate. but im certainly not desperate enough to feed the fat, greedy, already stuffed face of a ticket tout.
There you go. Ive had my rant. I feel better now! However, i would like to hear your thoughts on this subject!
Dont pay the money then. Noone is holding a gun to your head.
There are people making money is much less 'acceptable' ways than this and they are tolerated in society.
Whats next, 'i was down at my car dealers the other day and it turns out he is making £2000 profit on a car!!' - so you didnt get a ticket for some band - deal with it.0 -
What's needed is a new law to make things fairer where if the promoter offers (or nominates) a reseller facility where unwanted tickets can be resold for facevalue plus an admin charge to cover the reseller operation. If the promoter chooses not to offer a reseller facility then the ticket holders are free to resell themselve by what ever method for what ever price.
Doubt it'll stop the professional touts but it'll give the promoters a new legal path to crack down on it (in support of the real fans).0 -
there are still some kind of tickets left even today!
For stadium of light there is the coach package with tickets...just means u have to go there and get taken back there....

Hardley a valid comparisson......
Unless Ford/Renault/Vauxhall/Mecedes/BMW etc etc....... make you sign a contract saying you are not allowed to sell your car to a dealer for re-sale
And if you buy a car normally you want it... And are not doing someone else out of having that car...
These scum-of-the-earth-touts are buying tickets just to sell, thus stopping real fans buying them, the ONLY reason they cannot get them is because of these scum-of-the-earth-touts:rolleyes:
The T&C on the ticket websites CLEARLY state...
Unlawful resale (or attempted unlawful resale) of a ticket is grounds for seizure or cancellation of that ticket without refund or other compensation.
I really dont think you have these kinds of T&C when you buy a car :rolleyes:0 -

Then eBay decided to help the eBay tout-scum-of -the-earth  as it earns them lots of fees.
The exception to this policy pertains to tickets. eBay permits sellers to list tickets that they have bought even if they do not physically have them in their possession as it is common practice now for event organisers to send out their tickets close to events.0 -

But ask yourself what is the answer? Should the bands not be putting the tickets direct on ebay auctions to see what their true market value is? How should the band/promoter allocate tickets? Why should one person be any more deserving for the ticket than another? I first saw Oasis in 1994 when they supported the Boo Radleys at the Manchester Roadhouse - should I be higher up the pecking order than you, because I saw them first, or should I be further down the pecking order, because I have seen them over a dozen times already?
Besides, I've been to enough Oaiss gigs in my time, and the "flying warm pints" has put me off going to any more!!
But you also suggest we should report them - what for exactly? eBay are making a killing on Final value Fees, so why would they want to pull a prefectly legitimate listing?
If people are willing to spend well over the odds on a ticket or games console, then who are you or I to stop them? The PS3 did not make a premium price on eBay, as Sony were on top of the supply and demand situation at it's launch. Nintendo deliberately held back supply to increase demand and media frenzy.
A fool and their money...
Quite agree. Supply and demand is all. If people don't pay, the sellers don't get a profit.
And I was once at an Oasis gig - Foo Fighters supported them is why! - and if you're rich enough to chuck £3 a pint beer round willy nilly, you can afford to pay over face value for a ticket. I left after about 3 Oasis songs, not my cup of Typhoo, and I wasn't keen on smelling like a brewery on the home journey.0 -

People sell 'in demand' cars on for profit? Is that not a problem? I'm sure the new focus RS will change hands at over list price for a little while but i dont think there'll be too many people bleating on about it. The only reason ticket companies put that blurb about resale on is because it peeves them that someone else is getting profit - its certainly not because they give a monkeys about the fans.
Its a concert, i'm sure your life wont be ruined because you wont get.0 -

There is no easy way to break this to you, but it is NOT beer in those pint pots that fly about the place...
Have you noticed how far away the toilets are from the front of the stage...?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
