oasis concert: greedy ticket touts at it again

Ticket touts are not going to be put out of business any time soon.
Firstly the tickets agencies have failed to come up with an alternative selling method that would get around touting.
Secondly, the government has signalled clearly (through a select committee report which can be found if you google it) that it will not outlaw ticket touting.
Thirdly, eBay will never ban the sale of tickets as it is so lucrative for them. As I type this there are over 15k listings for tickets on ebay which must represent millions in revenue every year for them. They have a vested interest in looking after this "trade" and so they will be reluctant to do anything against ticket touting. As discussed in this thread, they even exempted tickets from the 30 day presale policy.
For all of those reasons, I think it's useless debating this issue as there is nothing viable you can do to stop it. Every time a big act goes on sale these sorts of thread pop up on thousands of forums....it really is nothing new, and it certainly isn't about to stop.0 -
Quite agree. Supply and demand is all. If people don't pay, the sellers don't get a profit.
And I was once at an Oasis gig - Foo Fighters supported them is why! - and if you're rich enough to chuck £3 a pint beer round willy nilly, you can afford to pay over face value for a ticket. I left after about 3 Oasis songs, not my cup of Typhoo, and I wasn't keen on smelling like a brewery on the home journey.

"no matter how quick you are...and we're all using the same purchasing mechanism...Ebay sellers seem to jump the queue....."
My brother is the box office manager for a large London venue and there's no secret code for Ebay sellers to get their tickets first. Infact venues are sick of people complaining that their seats aren't as good as they expected (or worse they're fakes), when they've bought from touts. As my brother says, unless the tickets are booked to Mr Tout, they have no way of knowing.0 -
I completely understand the frustrations of the OP, but like others have said, there's no way to tell who is a tout and who isn't, so the fact that touts are able to buy tickets before others is really unsubstantial. There's a limit on the amount of tickets you buy, and unless you register for pre-sale (which anyone can do) then you'll get exactly the same chance to buy your tickets as anyone else. I guess the reason touts are so quick off the mark is because they've done this hundreds of times before and they know exactly how to beat the queues.
What annoys me is the hundreds of fake products that go up on eBay claiming to be genuine and never being removed. I decided to sell my unwanted Ninetendo DS (genuine) a few weeks ago and included the words 'authentic and as new' in the description, because it is! My listing was removed for breaching the T&Cs of eBay, but many, many remain without a problem. Grrr!!0 -

I can tel you that See tickets DO go on eBay and remove seated tickets from the listings but it's no good for the standing.
For Oasis the other week, which was sold out, I went on the venue and See websites a few days before the shows and got myself a ticket for face value so didn;t go down the tout route. Or again near the time just go on eBay and there's bound to be touts with too many tickets on their hands selling very cheap.0 -
Supply and demand. Simple as that. Get over it.
As far as the ripping off of fans is concerned; Oasis charging fans £45 a ticket to stand on a pitch is a massive rip off.
I spent £25 to see them last Sunday night at The Roundhouse and we left before the end of the gig because, frankly, it just wasn't very exciting.0 -
I can understand the OP frustration. My OH is 26 next mth and never been to a concert in his life, i tried to get ACDC and Metallica tickets for him, only wanted 2 so he could go with a mate (not my kind of music, well def not Metallica anyway) and failed on both attempts.
That same day ACDC tickets went on sale they appeared on ebay. I could justify £45 each for a ticket, but i cannot justify £200+.
Its a hard call cos im annoyed at the people who put them on ebay straight away cos they're robbing actual fans from going, well ones that put hard earn't cash away to afford £90 for 2 tickets, some can afford £200+ and thats fine, but i can't.
But then at the same time i can understand why the sell them on cos they make such a big profit off it and i guess if they can live with knowing that they stopped geniune fans from being able to go, well thats them.
At least i know im a more thoughtful person and wouldn't ring up for concert tickets i had no intention of actually going to.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

No any good for standing...
Send the links to ticketmaster, seetickets etc...
It is in their T&C that they will cancel tickets being re-sold, and no refund given
Nice, who'll suffer most there though, the poor sod that likes the band so much they've spent £200 on a ticket and get refused entry.rockin_plumber wrote: »These scum-of-the-earth-touts are buying tickets just to sell, thus stopping real fans buying them, the ONLY reason they cannot get them is because of these scum-of-the-earth-touts:rolleyes:
The T&C on the ticket websites CLEARLY state...
Unlawful resale (or attempted unlawful resale) of a ticket is grounds for seizure or cancellation of that ticket without refund or other compensation.
I really dont think you have these kinds of T&C when you buy a car
Firstly, who is buying them from touts if not genuine fans? They're merely stopping some genuine fans from getting tickets in favour of other genuine fans getting tickets.
As for those terms and conditions, they don't actually prohibit resale if that's all they are saying. There is nothing unlawful about re-selling tickets. With that in mind re-selling a ticket is not "unlawful reselling," only reselling a ticket in a manner that is prohibited by law (only one i can think of is concealling the face value of a ticket) could be classed as unlawful and as i say these resellers are not doing anything that is prohibited by law. If that's a genuine quote of the terms and conditions then it means as much as saying "unlawful walking down the street is grounds for arrest" but simply walking down the street normally wouldn't lead to arrest as there's nothing unlawful in simply walking down the street IYSWIM.Bought, not Brought0 -
"Genuine Fans" that most likley dont have access to a computer at 9/10 a.m. when tickets go on sale but would really like to go and would pay a premium.

I have pointed out in previous a previous topic that tickets for pretty much all gigs have tickets listed later. AC/DC added a further date later on that day and they were around ages.
You just need to try harder to get tickets, I check all agencies everyday for tickets.0
