New Kaupthing CHAPS/BACS Transfers discussion - Friday 24th October

My linked account is Citibank too, so that 4 out of the last 9 were with Citi. Given that Citi has a pretty small market share in the UK, I wonder if this is really a coincidence??
It’s such a small sample, I don’t think we can read too much into it. There’s not much we can do about it anyway. If it was all down to one bank, there would have been reason for concern. Unfortunately we’re back to the waiting game, over the weekend again.
I’d love to see a pole of how many people would bank with ING again. What a shame they missed a golden opportunity to harvest some ready made savers?
I think we should wait until every transfer has been settled before we start pointing fingers.0 -
Looks as though ING/KE are making a real effort to clear this thing up today. My funds have finally showed up in my account having been chapsed there back on 8 Oct. Hopefully the other people on the list will be sorted today as well.
Many thanks for the support/advice of those on the list.
Great news, hope the rest of you have your money soon, it really is too long to wait, do you think they will compensate?0 -

Hi Big G. Although I am obviously concerned that there are still ANY people on the List after all this time, and believe me my heart goes out to them, it is good that the number is perhaps not as great as we thought. Thanks for running the latest update process and for stepping into the breach and maintaining the list. We all appreciate your efforts.
Cheers:T:T:T0 -
Have been dipping in occassionaly but not posting. Great to see the helpline, and not surprised to see that with a "refresh" the list has dropped significantly. Human nature unfortunately.
Great to see its down to a few, BEST OF LUCK those still waiting.0 -
Glad to see that most people are now re-united with their own money and I am sooo sorry for those of you STILL waiting - ING sure know how to make their customers feel contented.......
After the recent cut in Interest rates I today received an email from ING advising me that the Kaufthing Edge account saving acount has been cut as well - not just by the 1.5% the B of E wanted, but to 4.5% - another 0.5%, so they are not intending to keep their remaining customers for long either........
I am still waiting for the outstanding interest due and the overcharge of £20 for the CHAPS payment and then, like most of you - I am off!!!0 -

I'm afraid the era of decent savings rates is over. The B of E has indicated that Base Rates will almost definitely come down further perhaps to just 1 or 2 percent. Furthermore the market has changed dramatically. Until now we had foreign banks such as Kaupthing sucking up UK deposits by offering rates 0.5-1.0% above mainstream players. Now that Kaupthing and Icesave have blown up, most savers will be much more aware of the credit quality of the bank they are depositing with. Of course the FSCS guarantee allows people to be more relaxed about their first GBP50k - if the regulators had any sense they would now wake up to the risk that this allows dodgy banks to steal billions from us UK tax payers.
All this is terrible news for those of us who are retired and relying on investment income. It's also terrible news for those of you more interested in the preservation of your capital because it is one of the factors behind the collapse of sterling.0 -
Sorry for the 8 who are still on the list. Hope the new helpline is of help! Thanks a lot bigg!

It appears that the bulk of the original issues are almost resolved, although there are still some very worried people still waiting. New BACS transfers seem, from the posters in this thread, to be going through normally - which means, as you say, 3-4 working days depending on the time of day of the request and individual bank transaction processing procedures.0 -
