    IMPORTANT UPDATE:

After seeing my note above re press... I got a call from ING Direct to try and run through with me what's going on. Below is my interpretation (and some reading between the lines) of the exact score right now.

    The Dates Are Crucial

While ING has taken over the savings business, the processes of Kaupthing Edge are in the hands of the adminstrators Ernst & Young . Any transactions made after 8 Oct were therefore for ING customers before were Kaupthing customers.

If the transaction is Kaupthing then it is a question of information from the adminstrators that is needed and ING are simply the processors, if it is after the 8 then it is ING.

So far 57,000 payments have been processed, but as we know above some remain.
    • Payments between 9 & 24 October.

ING was rather suprised when I said there are 8 people waiting for money at this date. If you're one, you're hopefully in the easier to sort group and ING should be able to do so. The message again was call the helpline and ensure you let them know your payment was AFTER 8 October.

The mention was this is simply due to glitches or wrong account numbers that are suffered for all paymetns from any bank. I asked that the phone team were told specifically that post 8 October transactions are easier to sort and they should be aware of the difference in situation.
    • Payments on 6, 7 and 8 October

Apparently 57,000 payments have gone through, but that's no solace for the 90 odd people on this thread without their cash. The money for the payments before Kaupthing was transferred lies with the administrators not ING.

Reading between the lines, this is an issue of waiting for the administrators to sort through, and inform ING of the necessary payments to be made.

I have a suspicion there's an "holding the party line" issue here, but ING are frustrated that the info isn't getting to them and they're fielding the flack.

While this is unpalatable, for all of you waiting, this seems to be a situation of thumb twiddling waiting for the info to come. I'm not quite sure what I can suggest here.

Certainly if anyone is in severe difficulty without access to the money (ie CCJ/mortgage arrear because of it) let me know and I will try to see if any special arrangement can be made (though pls dont do it frivilously).
I wish i could write something more concrete, but I hope at least an understanding of the process will aid it a bit more.

    Martin
This makes a farce of online banking. Isn't the principle, press a button and it leaves one account and arrives at the requested link. Not press a button, it leaves and disappears who knows where. What happened when KE actioned my request to transfer funds on October 7th? Surely as my account was debited, somewhere there has to be a corresponding credit?

    Thanks for the info Martin.

23rd day now without money. I've had no callback from either last Friday or Tuesday when I telephoned, no emails received either. No nothing.

Me too. Not a happy bunny. Haven't called them yet today, might give them another 15 minutes to see if they fulfill one of their many promises.....
    I have money!!!!:j :j :j :j 31st October 3.30pm. Organised by nice lady from E & Y, very, very grateful.

    £20 debit for CHAPS received 27th - dated 7th on A/C
  • Thanks Martin - are you able to ring the administrators as well ? The delays that they seem to be causing and the grief that it is causing all us unfortunates probably hasnt occurred to them ! Can you also ask KE / ING why we keep getting fobbed off by the KE staff call centre - I have now been told 4 times that I will be contacted in 48 hours - but nothing , no e mail , no telephone call and certainly no cash ! Thanks for your help

Martin - thanks for following up with ING direct. I am one of those who is still awaiting transfers from the 9th-24th period (mine were on the 14th and the 23rd) - when I called the helpline again as you suggested to inform them that I was not one affected from the 6th-8th, they told me that the process would be exactly the same and than I would just go to the tracing team like everyone else. So unfortunately, it doesn't look as though transfers from the 9-24th are going to be any easier to sort out.
  • Thanks for your efforts Martin!
  • Yes thanks Martin. I agree that a call to Ernst & Young by you could prove to be very valuable. Thanks for your support and help so far. I requested my CHAPs on the 7th so looks like I too are one of the unlucky ones caught between a rock and a hard place. At least it sounds like I have pointed my Money Cliam at the right place - Kaupthing Edge @ Nottingham so the Administrators should hopefully have to respond to that.

    Just a suggestion here:
As Martin only spoke to ING around 30 minutes ago it may be worth waiting a while before calling the help line to give them the opportunity to inform their operators that there are 2 types of transfers.
    BACS requested 8/10/08, received 17/10/08

anyone here feel a bit miffed that as soon as Martin keys a post he gets a call yet none of the people still awaiting get the same sort of service? im aware they'd need to match your usernames but im sure they could PM people for private details.

I bet ING wish they had never got involved with this.
  • Luke, fancy going back on the telly to sort this out?
