No Solution on Iceland-Britain Banking Dispute

Sorry Bjorn Again, but you're barking up the wrong tree here if you want tolerance and understanding.
To clarify; Landbanski/Icesave can/could do what they want wish my cash - invest it, spend it, lend it, whatever. The one tiny thing I wanted was the small matter of being able to have it back.
I would sympathise greatly with Iceland and its people if they didn't have my money. So until I get it back, I have no sympathy whatsoever.
And yes - I may consider anger management classes, but - ooh - look - I've got no money to pay for them. Iceland's got it and refusing to give it back!!0 -
I have to repeat myself there is no evidence that the money has been 'stolen' which is a criminal action, a bank has defaulted due to misjudgements and nothing further to date has been established.
Gordon Brown appears to agree with me, not you. Funny that.
"Gordon Brown accused his Icelandic counterpart of "unacceptable" and "illegal" behaviour after Iceland said it could not give a guarantee to reimburse UK customers of the online bank."0 -
TBH I don't think you will get much support for that; until we get our money back, would you feel benevolent to burglar who stole your money, most of us here did not save our cash with a view to help bail out a hard up country we did not gamble our cash we saved it in a bank registered in the UK with all the usual guarantees and we were promised that our savings were 100% safe, most of us feel that we have been mugged and robbed!
Is it any wonder that we are angry with Iceland!
I am sorry that you feel you have been robbed or mugged, however, the truth of the matter is that when you deposit money in a Bank, you give it license to do whatever it will with that money in order to provide you/it with a profit. Exceptions being when you invest/deposit with a Bank that displays a moral code such as the Co-op.
Even then when it all goes wrong you and the Bank takes the hit. You see, regardless of how you look at it, if you hand over your money to someone-else for safe-keeping you take a risk. My sympathy is with you but it is also with the people of Iceland who are equally as innocent in all this.0 -

Thanks.
No, the Icelandics are humans just like you and I. To ask God to strike them is an abomination.0 -

He's not much use then, is he?
As much use as Alistair Darling et al, I'd suggest.0 -

No sir, for these kind of investments/savings, risk should be minimal.
There is regulation in place to ensure that the banks are run correctly.
UK kept their end of the bargain, unfortunately, Iceland did not !!!0 -

The difference is though that the money we save with the Co-oP we get back, we don't expect them to steal it!0 -
hmmm.... in which case, why did you Thank them for it?

I thanked the poster for it because it lightened up a thread which was in danger of being dominated by nasty people who were letting their anger run away with them producing unrestrained unpleasantness. Nothing like a bit of double edged humour in that kind of situation.0 -
