I don't think anyone is saying that we should just sit and wait for iceland to walk all over us. But that we should be careful not to be 'overhanded'. Do unto others and all that.

Extraordinary. You are getting your money back and you express yourself like this?

Do you know when am I getting my money back??? Shud I treat ACCELERATED PAYOUTs as weeks, months, years.... or what... near future...

Was this a calculated risk, putting money in FSA regulated institution???

Dont I have right to just do BLOGGING here, if someone has taken my property??? Well, this is what all I can do....

Is there someone from ICELAND... I imagine... you.... to give a desent reply to my queries....

Sorry If I was personal. I need that money to carry out my life normal.

We need to stop fluffing about here, Iceland is really taking the really michael now

Send the Royal Navy in and sink it.
  • I'm pleased you can be so blase about it. I can only assume that you don't personally stand to lose thousands.

Quite frankly, sod balancing the interest of both sides. I invested in Icesave, believing what they, MSE and the respectable press told me. I don't care what happens to Iceland, their people, their government, just as much as they clearly care about me. They can all starve as much as I care, because for all they know the same could be happening to me. The feeling's mutual guys.

I only know that had I happily accepted £20k of someone's money and then told them they couldn't have it back, I'd expect more than a few harsh words.

Dear god, are you on mogadon?!!!

This has to end within days, not weeks, or years.

Time to liquidate Iceland's assets and - I'm afraid - repatriate any Icelanders that are here.

As I say, this must end sooner rather than later.

    Day of action looks guaranteed.

Now how are all the wet and wooly types on this site feeling with your "do nothing" appeals? Pathetic.

I think the UK gov't are trying to negotiate the best deal for the UK taxpayer and that takes time. It has always been known that in the event of a bank failure compensation would take time, but I am sorry for those who are in difficulty because of any delay. It is interesting that events like this make people very angry, depressed or anxious. Those who are very angry should perhaps be going to anger management classes or inventing jokes. I saw a good one on this site - it was a suggestion that 'we burn their igloos'.

Apart from joke... this will eventually happen.

Does anyone know what initiated the Gulf War?? It all started becuase of economic reasons.

Kuwait was selling oil to US at very cheap freindly price, which was a direct threat to the economy of Iraq. Imagine, one day, is Iceland says that WE DAMN CARE FOR ICESAVERS... What can we do??? If this would have been any individual, the government would have sent baliffs for take all the property to cover up the cost.

So, if Mr, Harde has said that THEY HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF PAYING US BACK!!! I think the government shud just break Landsbanki and give us the money back.

To be honest, your blase, emotionless reaction is A LOT more disturbing.

Seriously. You're a very odd individual.

We've potentially had all our money stolen from us.

If that doesn't make you angry, you're the one who needs help, luv.

I'm amazed at all these posts critising the icelandic and uk goverment, they as any other politicians in the world do not give a f*** about people - accept when begging (canvassing ) for our votes.

Us icesave savers will get our money back because !!!!**** darling promised it on the bbc and other channels, it may take some time and the only thing that could scupper it is if labour all of a sudden went to zero in the poles.

I know some people are desperate, I woke up 3am today with a panic attack re standing orders. I'm sure if you talk to your bank or the recipients they will be sympathetic.

Try and stay calm and yes they have alot of my dosh too, but I will get it back - if not the labour party is finished.

I have to repeat myself there is no evidence that the money has been 'stolen' which is a criminal action, a bank has defaulted due to misjudgements and nothing further to date has been established. Your anger has led you to emotive statements which go right over the top, you might well, rightly, find yourself defending a court action if you behaved that way as a mortgage company representative towards someone in difficulty repaying their mortgage in the UK. As for my reaction, before the gov't promised that the money was safe, it was one of sadness that I made a decision to put some of my money with Icesave and I regretted my foolishness.

Fair enough, but I can't remember telling them it was fine to use my money to do it with.

I think the moment you invested your money in Landsbankki, you told them it was fine to do whatever it saw best with your money, or did you specify otherwise?
This is not the time for recriminations. It is a time for reflection and forward looking, to see how we (depositors) and the Icelandic people are going to get a result out of this mess.
