It's certainly as lesson to us all regards to checking our wins if they seem too good to be true.
You need to find the right person to take this up with within the ITV corporation itself. They have had such a lot of bad press in recent years with regards to competitions that I doubt they would want the fuss for the sake of £750. It's not even pennies to them is it? At the end of the day it was their mistake NOT yours.
Good luck, keep us posted.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

Im very sorry to hear of your wife
hope things work out for you.
its alright everyone saying, oh I'd do this are that, we dont know what we'd do if we were in your situation.
Id write & tell them you really had thought youd won twice & see what they say.
all the best0 -
Thats terrible!
Any decent company would sympathise with you and let you keep the money!
I'd go to the papers, and fight them all the way!
Good luck!
And lets face it, its not like ITV can't afford it!:starmod: May all your wishes come true! :starmod:0 -

I'm sure, if they have the circumstances explained to them by the CAB or something similar, they'll relent.
After all, if you're a comping addict like most of us here, it's entirely understandable that you would receive another prize and assume you won another competition. Especially because it had entirely different dates and reference numbers, nothing that would tie it to a previous win.
Also, the fact they waited over a month to contact you about it works against them too.
Anyway, I hope the best for you, and if all else fails, I would recommend what others have said, and go to the press. Even though I dislike them, The Sun has a lot of clout in this area and would most likely pay you for the article too.
I know way too much about the media for my own good sometimes. I guess thats what comes from having 90% of friends and family working in it :rolleyes:Wins of 2014: *zip*

to be truthful if i received the 2 cheques i would bank both too, and as you believed they were 2 seperate wins its only fair that you should keep the money, if i was you i would name and shame them to the press, and i think 99% of people with hands on hearts would do exactly the same as you. so good luck0

may i ask what comp you won with anyway?
& well done on winning0 -
Everything now sorted - Thanks for all your responses0

If i get no joy, i will then be looking at going public
understandable thats cool
good luck0 -
I personally believe that ITV will give and let you have it, as 750 is a drop in the ocean to them.
But I personally would have checked with them when the 2 cheques showed up, not just spent the cash and crossed my fingers. Life is not like Monopoly - bank error in your favour, etc...Best wins: Luxury weekend in Russia, family holiday to France, catered BBQ for 20, Selfridges shopping spree, jolly to Majorca, £1,000 See Tickets vouchers, £500 John Lewis vouchers, five-star weekend in Provence!
