Sad story but I think its unlikely you really believed you had won twice.
Dont they tell you to look on the ITV website to see your name.
If you kick up enough fuss they will probably let you have it - it was their mistake after all.
Good luck anyhoo :beer:0 -
Tell them they can have the £750 back but it will be in paving stones as that is what the money has been spent on.
OR tell them you have used it to buy lifesaving drugs for your cancer stricken wife as the PCT refuse to pay.
Good luck and best wishes to you wife.0 -
if it was real deal then yes they do phone you to say you have won, unless it was another comp?
if that was me i would have contacted them to say i had recieved another cheque and if that was right, error or not that is their money, but fingers crossed you can get something sorted soon0 -

This actually happened to me!
I won a second itv comp a few months ago and the day after, I checked on the winners page. For some reason my name was on there twice a week apart, same answer and same prize money (it was corrected the day after though). I took a snapshot, showed oh and said I wonder if they would send me two cheques....... a few days later they did . I knew straight away it was a mistake, I'd only received one winning phone call and the cheques were for the same amount, too much of a coincidence. I called the people that had sent the letters to me and after a couple of hours I was called back and given a big apology, but thanked for being so honest. With mine, the wrong winner's list was sent to the promotions company, so the 'real' winner of the day I supposedly 'won' the second time wouldn't have got their cheque. Even though it was their mistake, personally I couldn't have not told them and I can still enter the ITV comps with a clear conscience.:beer:Thank you to all posters:beer:

Is the letter from the PR company or ITV? If the PR company write to them Copied to the Chief Executive of ITV, explain the situation that you thought you had won twice & that the money has now been spend adapting your home for your wife, offer to pay the money back at £5 per month or what is suitable. Then say how disgusted you are that the win has been tainted by mistake on the part of the the PR company.
Follow up with ITV Chief Exec, they I would hope would say do not worry about it, if they insist on getting the money back contact the Sun & other red tops & see if they want to buy the story for £7500 -
How awful for you both, hope you sort this out
