Just a quickie to say thanks to those who noticed I hadn't posted yesterday. I was doing radical 'surgery' on my laptop, including a massive back-up which meant I couldn't use other programmes while it was running.
I appeared to have picked up a variety of 'nasties' somehow, but it turns out things like the keylogger that was installed came from logitech. Not impressed with that so I've had to removed certain programmes from my hard drive. If I disappear without a trace again, it's 'cos I've gorn an' removed something vital.
I'll catch up with you all properly later.s/e0 -
Blimey! From Logitech! I've always trusted them.
I did once have a driver from a PopCap game (yes, sad I know) come up under McAfee as a Trojan, but it was a false alert.
My disinfector runs once a day, but you have reminded me I haven't backed up for a while. Not so worried about docs etc, but some drivers can be a beggar to track down if you lose them. Spesh with older programmes.
Off to buy an oil filled radiator.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

You might want to have a look in Lidl - they had some in at a reasonable price recently. Can't guarantee that they'll still have any, but they might. If you can't see any on display, it might be worth asking the manager if they've still got any out the back. I did something similar a couple of years ago. Bought a set of steps, got them home and unpacked them, then found they were faulty. Took them back for a replacement, but found they had appeared to have sold out, but there were still a couple of sets out the back. New set have turned out to be damned good value - very solidly made for 9.99.s/e0 -
Thanks s/e. annoying how these programmes sneak in isn't it. I am cobstantly getting notified that HP is trying to access the internet - that's my printer. I very rarely use it, so no I won't let it go online. Luckily, I have Vista so it alert me.
Sorry if teaching to suck eggs, but can you download mouse prog until you get d:\ sorted?
I got a cheap oil filled rad from Argos. It turns our to be faulty as you can't fit the wheels, but I can't return it til tomorrow, so will damned well use it in the meantime!I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Yes, I was thinking of getting the driver off the 'net, I might get around to it in a bit - I'm finding my missing scroll function quite irksome.Careful_with_that_Axe wrote: »I got a cheap oil filled rad from Argos. Know what you mean. The flat had prepayment meters already installed when I moved in and Landlord won't let me change them. Spose they're worried about me running up a bill and skipping off without paying it. Would never dream of doing that and I am getting royally p'd off with the extortionate cost of the fuel. Gas is much cheaper than electricity - about half the price, but everything is electric except the gas boiler for central heating and hot water. Having these heaters on has cost me £20 since yesterday pm. Am going to have to ask landlord to cover extra cost.
Hope you track down the driver you need. I would be interested to know how to override defaults if T/S is happy to explain, but it's not a priority. Thanks for the offer.
Just had some soup for lunch so am a bit warmer.
Agent is an hour late so far, so will try to snooze on the sofa - he's bound to turn up then.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

It is possible that it's just died of old age, we shall have to see what the expert says.
I'll try and remember to ask T/S tonight how to stop hp from trying to access the 'net. He's also got Vista, so he should be able to tell me.s/e0 -
Yee Hee!! I have heating and hot water! Leaking Rad has been capped off and will be replaced later in week. Twas only in teeny tiny kitchen, so no real need for heat in there.
I'm going to have that snooze now and then have a long hot bath.
Thanks s/e. I'm always keen to learn new stuff about puters, being self-taught, not being in a work environment means I feel a little bit left behind with techno stuff now and don't have anyone's brain to pick. I enjoy tinkering too.

BZ I've been on pregabalin for a bout a year, I tried to come of it recently as I didnt think it was working, but when I saw my Rheumi he said I should stay on it aS he'd recently been to a conference in America and seen a talk on Fibro by an expert. Apparently the expert reccomended Pregabalin, tramadol and amitripyline, so thats what Im on now and it does seem to help a bit.
Thankyou all for the lovely animal pics, they are all gorgeous. Diamond was a very naughty dog this morning, she pinched a biscuit off my little g/d and made her cry. She is so greedy, I gave little un another biccy and she sat on my lap with it that time.
CWTA - Im so pleased you now have heating and hot water and the rads getting replaced soon.
