I have had one, Monument Visa, but they search call credit and I dont have 20 million searches on there!
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
  • Thanks, but did you then get accepted for the others that said they'll contact you ?

Yes, apart from Capital One who didn't offer me the card I wanted, but offered me a different one.

I've applied for three credit cards, one accepted, two declined. All advertised instant online decisions, all said they would inform me in 7 working days! I've been declined twice because I'm not on the electoral roll for my current address. If you're worried about why you haven't got an instant decision, check your credit report and make sure all details are correct.
  • I applied for the Virgin card and got the same message as you, someone on another thread said they applied for it on-line and were declined straight away. I haven't heard anything yet, I'm expecting it to be a no, but will wait to see if I hear or not, it's been a week so far.

Instant NO is very common... instant YES is rarer. But they do happen - I recently got an instant yes from Barclaycard and Tesco.

AN IMPORTANT TIP : Make sure you apply in working hours if you want an instant decision - as Experian and Equifax take their databases down in the evenings to update them, so you will rarely get an instant decision if the CC company can't connect to the database to do credit scoring on you. It would be referred for a human check the next day, and you'd get the "we'll let you know in 10 days" message. Having said that, even if they can connect you can still get that message if your score is borderline, as they will have their underwriters look at your application for a final decision.

Instant 'YES' with PayPal and Barclaycard.

We'll be in touch Egg Money, GE Capital, Capital One, Post Office, and Mint

All eventually YES results except Mint.

Egg, Halifax, Mint, the Post Office and Virgin give instant decisions and credit limits online or by telephone, provided that they can verify your ID electronically via the electoral roll.

I got instant acceptance from Capital One too but, if memory serves, waited three or four days for the limit.

Well, I was accepted - and was well chuffed when I saw the envelope and felt my new credit card inside, then was gutted that they only gave me a credit limit of just £1,750 - when I asked to transfer £5,000 of my MBNA card onto this new one, if accepted.

Still, 4.9% APR until paid off is better than nowt I guess.

If only I could do something with the remaining £4,250 on the ball busting MBNA card :(

That incidentally, has an £11,000 limit, so am confused as to why CitiBank only gave me £1,750.

N.B. I can't see anywhere it says I have got this 4.9% life of balance APR either :(
