Asda Doughnuts.....Watch Out!

I've been out to my local Asda today and I needed to return something as I'd made an error.
In front of me was a rather angry lady, really het up about something, my own experience with Asda meant I was unsuprised this woman had a complaint.
The words trading standards were uttered, along with threats of a solicitors letter, how completely unacceptable Asda were etc. I thought this was something really serious.
It transpired that this lady had bought a 5 pack of jam doughnuts, reduced the night before and not one of the 5 doughnuts had any jam in them, she'd eaten half of each one to prove this point and therefore, she was citing emotional distress she wanted £100 in compensation, or as she said 'vouchers'll do'.
Now, I sometimes think Asda customer service is pretty bad but the poor woman behind the customer service desk took such a verbal battering from this woman without losing her cool whatsoever.
The store manager eventually came and offered the woman £5 in vouchers and a new bag of doughnuts, which she accepted after much deliberation with another woman she was with.
Now, I realise I haven't made any point here but really, what would she have hoped would happen by returning 5 half eaten doughnuts, obviously she was disappointed with no jam and I can understand that but really, £100 in vouchers for distress? for 13p doughnuts?
I just couldn't believe the scene created for the lack of jam in a doughnut.

WOW if I was the manager I wouldn't have given her THAT much if she eaten half the product!! If she'd gone ahead and cut open the others and left all the evidence then maybe, but not when she scoffed 50% of the product :rolleyes::rolleyes:
Edit: actually, should have said, I've never had a problem with Asda customer services ever, they've always been even better than I thought they would....................however Tesco!! what a stupid woman (politely put!)
i hate it when people want compensation for anything... it makes companys have rediculous saftey rules.:starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod:0 -
I used to work in a tesco IS bakery, and all the donuts that the supermarket sells are bought in frozen, and bakery staff take them out of a frozen box, tray up, bake off for 10 mins and then roll/shake with sugar.
there must have been at least 10 other customers from that batch that had no jam in! there could be umpteen boxes like this in circulation!
she should have reported to TS as the product not as described but I suppose she wouldnt have got "compensation"
that is overboard though. I expect shes a bit skint and thought she'd try her luck! Being v skint makes people do some very mad things. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

It's not even as if doughnuts could be considered to be an essential foodstuff!! An example of greed at its worst. Emotional distress? Too many doughnuts and you turn into one, now that really would be distressing...!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
