What I find too is I think people are using the credit crunch as an excuse not to hold a party. All it physically cost me to hold my starter party was a bottle of wine, a couple of bottles of soft drink and a few snacks, I didn't actually buy any products.

I need to learn how to be more of a salesperson, I've never tried to sell anything before so don't know how to do it lol! DH keeps telling me I'm doing it all wrong - blimmin knowitall:mad:

  • I know I think people worry about the hassle of a party when it isn't at all especially when the hostess offers are so great!

I'm rubbish at sales so i'll see how I get on when i do my first party. the products speak for themselves and they are quality. I love the products and can't wait till some of my favourites are discontinued so i can put them out in my house!

I love the stuff too and ya know what? My house smells gorgeous!

I have this one friend and she has told me outright that she is not interested in even entering a raffle for £2 so I haven't sent her any emails or asked her about holding a party. I will wait until she comes round for coffee and notices the gorgeous smell!

My first party is 21st March and the hostess is one of those pushy mum types so she is inviting mums from all the clubs that her kids go to! They will probably be all too scared to say no to her!:rotfl:

I guess I need to start writing my script for my show!!!

  • You're onto a winner there! Maybe she'll get them all to book a party for you!

    Hope so!

I'm also going to take my stuff to the Rosemary Conley classes that I go to - I go to two different ones so two different audiences!

Gilrs - Just keep asking people some will say no and some will say yes.

Once you get to the parties make sure you are really telling everyone what they get free - make a big thing of it - I always tell the guests what the hostess got free that night and usually once they hear actual items they are surprised by how much you actually get

I also use the door prizes slips by offering gifts for actual dates - and I show the people the gifts and say whoever books this date tonight gets to take this home and that works as well.
    I get paid to party!:rotfl:

Have you any ideas how to deal with a so called "friend" who thinks what I'm doing is a big joke?

When I sent invitations out for my starter show she said she was busy - fair enough. She later told me she was busy but "wouldn't really want to go anyway". She moaned before when I did a Body Shop Party because she didn't like feeling obliged to buy stuff.

So then I sent her a text saying I was doing a partylite raffle and did she want a ticket for £2 to which the reply she sent was "ok I suppose so". I told her she didn't have to if she didn't want to.

Anyway I said I have this party booked for 21st. The hostess has invited this woman who said she is going. She said to me today "is your friend doing it or is it your first party?". I said "its my first party" and she said "ooh we promise not to laugh at you".

Also I put a message on my facebook saying I felt like the most unpopular woman alive after no-one turned up at my party lol. She said "its not you that is unpopular, its the candles". I just replied "I don't think so".

I feel nervous enough about it being my first party and also stressing BIG time that I'm not going to make sales and she has just totally blown my confidence. What should I say to her (apart from p*** off I don't want to be your friend anymore:rotfl: )

First of all take a big deep breath - now relax (lol)

ok you will get lots of people who don't think party plan is a proper job but that's life unfortunately - my cousin was like that until she saw how much fun I was having and also how much money i started to earn and 2 years later she had a party for me and now wants another one as we had great fun.

Some will , some won't! IMO I would just leave her out if she's is going to bring you down don't invite her then she will soon feel left out - her choice

I used my newess as a joke to bring fun - I put "L" plates up on my table and told everyone to be gentle with me and this made everyone want to help me out and I found this a postive experience some people will make fun that's why I much prefer it when I now do parties with people I don't know - have fun -smile and a few games and make it fun - people will want to come back for more!!!!

    Good luck:beer:

I like the L plates idea and I was going to start my party in a jokey way saying it was my first one.

Also this girl is the only person I know who I haven't asked to hold a party. I am a little disappointed she is going to the party because I wanted to not mention it and then see what happened when she comes round and notices how lovely my house smells!;)

  • Hi everyone
I'm new on here and new to Partylite too!! Had my starter show last week and made over £200 with 9 people and only 5 buying (2 outside orders too) so was quite happy. Have 3 more shows booked for the rest of this month and one already for April. Hoping to get a few more in the diary from the 2 shows towards the end of this month. Although I'm nervous about my first show on my own I can't wait to get started and build my business. Lots of helpful tips on here so keep them coming!! Good luck to all those fellow newbies too!
