I always used to take a packed lunch to work - much to the amusement of my colleagues who in central london were spending at least £5 on lunch - last laugh on me I think!!
    Now my son has just started school and takes a packie - hame and cucumber sandwich @ 30p (and I use finest), 1 carrot @ 3p, 4 cherry toms @ 16p, 1 pack crisps @ 20p, 1 yoghurt @ 15p, 1 piece of fruit @ 10p, 1 carton apple juice @ 15p
Approx £1.10 a day and none of it is budget brands just careful shopping.
  • Hmmm, probably about £1.50 a day. Try to stock up on things when they are on offer to save a little bit.

I always spend less than a pound, I work from home most days so have soup or salad or whatever is leftover from the night before, but send DH off to work every single day with a packed lunch. We have saved a fortune by not buying out whenever possible. Now that it is getting colder need to find him a small flask for homemade soups instead of sarnies. Cold enough on the outside dont want him cold on the inside as well!

I eat lunch at home so it's really difficult to estimate the cost - definitely under £1 anyway.
