  • Three quarters on the trot my elderly mother has been cut off, due to BTs incompetence, they have added charges she never had to pay and after spending hours talking to someone in a call centre in Mumbai, and being assured this would never happen again IT DID!! and then again IT DID, and again IT DID, then I complained to the BT rep on this site and asked for compensation, as my mum is a pensioner and should not keep getting cut off, the last time she took an asthma attack and could not contact her family or a GP, this is why she has a phone!! Anyway I was told that no compensation was available to us as they had not charged for the connection of the service of £122 which they WERE going to charge her, but the only reason they did not was because she sat waiting for 5 days for BT connection man to show up, even though every day she was promised he would call that day!! Anyhow I contacted once again the BT Rep on here yesterday, and this afternoon I got contacted by BT, by an Irish woman that would not listen to a word I said and talked over me everytime I said something, Sheer ignorance, I slammed the phone down as I was sick of being talked down to, BT call this customer service, as soon as this years contract is up I'm leaving them, I am disgusted with their service and staff.
What is wrong with BT?, I have been with them for about 30 years and I am finding their standards to be appalling.

    Hey serpico786

I can confirm that BT Basic has not been withdrawn. If any BT products are to be withdrawn any customers on that product would be sent a letter informing them that the product is no longer being provided.

Hello BT company representative. Why have you disabled your PM facility?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

  • Serpico, perhaps the BT person you spoke to got confused: it is the BT Light User service that is being wound down and will be discontinued when everyone has come off it.

BT Basic is the new service that replaces LU, except that the terms are different and you need to be claiming certain benefits.
