When you are switched over to BT Basic you get a new account number.
I've heard that before but my account number never changed at all.

My god, what a thread this one is, yes i have read it all (2 cups of coffee later) seems like i was right in my thinking they didn't want people to go on it, given all the hassle some of you have had just getting the damm form, well i should go live 30th April, so i'll expect my first bill sometime later with the £7.50 late fee added, despite the fact i'm £40 in credit right now :D

Is the BT LUS still remaining for those on it ? - I thought everyone was being moved over to BT Basic, but a relative of mine is still on it.

9 days after replying to David (BT's Rep) I've not heard anything. I emailed as promised with all my info but never received an acknowledgement.

He's not been moved to the [STRIKE]Bermuda Triangle[/STRIKE] BT Basic department has he? :D
  • Darren, this is exactly what I would like to know myself. Some people are still on the LUS, and just don't know where they stand. One person got a BT LUS bill in March. There are many options being mentioned, but they are just hearsay I think. Some people say that LUS people will be switched automatically with no further problems, others say they will be switched and asked after one year or so to prove that they are on qualifying benefits.

Anyone with LUS on a low income who does not get the right benefits could face being switched to a standard tariff sooner or later. I predict that this would cause an epidemic of cancellations of their BT landlines. One person I know is not getting their BT landline repaired just in case they will not be requiring it soon.

Just missed a call from BT 08000285085. No message left but got an email from "Stephanie @ BT Support".

Sadly (and I have to say I'm very surprised) she made absolutely no mention of my BT Basic query and only mentioned a 1571 charge which I'd asked to be removed. This has been wrongly charged as 1571 doesn't appear on my account online so when I've tried to have it removed it wasn't possible.

"BT Support" -not sure what that's all about after me writing and enclosing all the details in my email (and here) to simply have it ignored.

Can't see the point of Martin allowing private companies on this board (with free advertising essentially) if they're going to provide the same crap service we can get off the board.

Had a very nice call from Stephanie@BT. I just have to say if there's any managers from BT reading this that everyone I've dealt with from BT (including the "Quarrys" people) have been very polite and nice. However, being polite and nice doesn't add up to good service does it? Something's missing and it's not the fault of these people who are doing their very best to help customers. If you're going to go to the bother of posting in an open public forum as a PLC then resource the staff properly. Posting here will do you no favours as a business if you provide the same poor service as I can get via BT's .com contact form or 150. It's also a waste of money and more of my time.

Anyway, everything's now sorted (ie explained) and I'm very happy with the outcome.

Thanks to Stephanie@BT for the help and assistance :)

    Jemma-T,

Thank you for the feedback, and get back to me if there is anything else that I can help with.

darren72, there are still some customers on the Light User Scheme, but it is no longer available to new customers and those who are still on it will be contacted (if they have not already) to change over a different tariff.

    Cheers,

    Stephanie

I heard this at the end of last year - Do you know the timescale for ALL remainder LUS customers to be contacted to be moved over ??

    Thanks
