Just thought id update ppl. I had an email last night from Product manager, BT Voice services acting on behalf of Ian Livingston asking me when it would be convienient to call me. I replied, asap.

Got a phone call today (about 10am) very apologetic, very helpful, and put me onto BT Basic manually and dont have to wait for the form, (apparently this guy is a top honcho too!), also got £25 credit to my bill as compo .. thats a great result .. it seems to be def worth going to the top LOL
  • Well 4th time unlucky for me. Just off the phone to BT Basic as no application form has arrived - seems from speaking to the BT Basic operator that NO FORMS have actually ever been sent out and she sends her apologies. I then demand that my claim is backdated to December but she denies this can be done ...

I have put a complaint to BT Head Man Ian Livingstone detailing my case and asking just what is up with BT Basic and why are BT's Customers being told a pack of lies by his BT staff???

More details to follow as and when I get it ...

my elderly father disconnected his BT line 6 months ago as he could not longer afford the £15 line rental he was paying. I didn't know about this offer. I have checked his phone and there is still a dial tone and I can dial 17070 to do a line test. I was wondering if BT would let him on to this scheme as a customer (he is eligible under their criteria) or would they ask him to got back on the normal line rental as the service ceased 6 months ago.

  • Is it looking likely the benefit criteria will change for individuals who claim benefits other than the ones mentioned?

Hi the devil made me do it

At the moment there are no plans to change the criteria for BT Basic. If any changes happen in future we will post the info on the bt.com website: http://www.btplc.com/inclusion/Needhelp/BTBasic/index.htm

    Hope that helps

So, the low user tariff no longer exists?

I'm considering using my mobile phone alot more, so would hardly be using the landline. However, I don't just want incoming calls.
  • Well BT have failed again it seems, told my mother form would be sent in March - now 7th April and still waiting  very poor - they manage to get letters offering broadband to her ok, and also send me lots asking me to come back to BT !!:rotfl:
  • I have my mum who is a pensioner on BT Basic, as I have taught her how to use the net, I have her on Sky Internet but now they are adding £5 unless you take out Sky Talk, I applied but BT Basic wouldn't let her have it, so a bit of a false economy there.
